Sure you always hear the usual Ramones, The Sex Pistols, and even now Green Day.
I've personally always thought it was Bad Religion. But I think it may be NOFX now

New York Dolls?

Shit I don't know I listened to punk on the radio and went to some clubs on the follow of friends.

One of the best nights I had was roommate and friends were going to the Haight to see Red Hot Chile Peppers at the I Beam so girl I was dating and I tagged along.

What a show!

So correct, Blondie had a huge role in punk music, Clash IMO was the greatest punk band, London Calling was one of the greatest records of all time.
I get the same dirty looks when I tell people "Talking Heads" was a big part of the punk scene.
I mean, what was "Burning Down the House", a polka?

The Ramones are tops in the big picture, but the Pistols changed every freakin' thing in the world of music with that one album. Once the London and New York flames faded and the West Coast took the lead, X and Fear were the two big dogs.

Excellent point, if you follow my threads you know I am a music junky, but spot on about the Sex Pistols, they flat out changed the rules of the game.
It wasn't all about Johnny and Sid either, Cook murdered the drums.

Sid was irrelevant he was all image . Glen matlock, the 1st bass player wrote most of the music on never mind the bollocks
Pasted from wiki :
Matlock is credited as a co-author on 10 of the 12 songs on Never Mind the Bollocks . He also continues to make his own records and tour with various bands, including the Sex Pistols

Right, Sid was your quintessential 'front man'.
Point I was trying to make was Sid and Johnny got all the glory, but it was the Cooks and Matlocks that was the genius of the Pistols.

Steve Jones singing lead for the Pistols (this came after Johnny Rotten had made his exit but Malcolm McLaren was still trying to keep the band going)

PIL had some damned good music over the years, Leisure. Glen Matlock was a pretty good writer, but it was Mr. Lydon who was the true force behind the Sex Pistols and then went in some fantastic ways that were very experimental for the time.
