Of course Strasburg came up with more hype.

But there was a lot of buzz surrounding Kerry Wood back when he 1st came up with the Cubs.

After he struck out like 20 Astros in a day game at Wrigley, many were saying Wood was the next Nolan Ryan.

We all know how that turned out.

Its early, but it looks like Strasburg might have a hard time staying healthy as well.

Maybe a bad comparison. Just thought I'd throw it out there...

Any references for people questioning Strasburg's mechanics the same way so many were questioning Wood's

Mark Prior had perfect mechanics and look where that got him.

Kerry Wood had a lot of hype coming out of HS.

Can't remember what site i posted the O/u of Strasburg career wins at 108 and I got torched for saying under. Really shows how unpredictable pitching is.

I originally posted this in 2010. If you would have bumped it last year after he got hurt, it maybe would have made me look smart. puff_>>

He looks good right now. But only time will tell if he can stay healthy over the long haul.

5/11/13:

Strasburg (1-5) hasn't won since opening day, April 1, against the lowly Miami Marlins.

So glad the Nats rested him last year when he was actually doing well. How's that working out for them now?

His era is still decent. It's too early to write him off. Zimmerman committed a 2 out error that led to a 4 run inning. Edwin Jackson hit a 2 RBI double just after the error. To top it off, the Nats again gave him no run support. They scored zero runs while he was in yesterday...

He went into the 8th inning for the first time in his career in his last start. His ERA is 2.83 and he's 2-5. The Nats have too many injuries right now and aren't doing much for their starting pitchers (except Zimmerman) w/ their pathetic offense. You can't write off a guy w/ an ERA under 3 in this day and age of baseball.

Have you actually watched him pitch this year though? He is pitching way worse then that 2 something era suggests. Major mechanical issues.

Justin, yes...I live here in DC. I try to watch as many of their games as I can (I grew up a Phillies fan...and they are still my team...but the Nats are my new "hometown" team, since I live here. They've been fun to watch and fun to watch them grow up). I'm not sure if if something is mechanically wrong w/ him or not. It's too early. He fell apart in his start 2 starts ago when Zimmerman gave up the 2 out error. He's had some bad bounces...and very poor defensive play by his own team (I read his last 8 starts he's given up 21 runs...but only 12 of them were earned. That's pathetic on the team's fielding).

Tomorrow night he pitches vs. San Fran on the road. This will be a good gauge to see where he is (coming off his longest outing of his career and a win...to see how he does on the road vs. a very good team and in front of a hostile crowd).
