Question for any Pirates fan, or any baseball trivia guys..

I may be just daydreaming, but watching the Pirates game, i seem to recall a guy for the Pirates maybe 3-4 seasons ago, that was getting respect almost like Strasburg is....when he would pitch for Pirates, they were almost always the fav, even when they stunk.....he was very hard to hit, and was getting a lot of bookie respect...

Am i daydreaming about it being the Pirates? or if it was, which I really think it was, who was he? and where is he now?

Maybe Zach Duke's rookie season. Been awful since though.

well u know, that popped into my head, but was he that "feared" his first year?

that was honestly the first name i thought of, but he sure hasnt had it since then, if thats the case..

my guess is you're thinking of one of their first round consecutive busts...burnett, vanbenschoten, or bullington and none are with them anymore. bullington i saw pitching for an AL team the other day and burnett i think was in the trade along with nyger morgan to washington. no idea what happened to vanbenschoten after his disastrous mlb stints

zach duke was never feared but those 3 all could throw pretty hard

i assume you are thinking of burnett though as he was a "can't miss" guy and minor league pitcher of year b2b seasons
