don't take offense to this. but how old are you? what are you talking about he wasn't good in the majors?
Why would I take offense to that? I don't see the point you're trying to make. I'm asking if he was known to suffer this type of injury prior to coming to MLB?
Hope you can comprehend that.
And Betsmart, hey how are you. I hit a big parlay a few weeks ago, I made about 12k in one week. I lost half but hell 6k is better than nothing.
Great point. But Spooner's career didn't end early due to lack of talent -- it ended early due to injury. I think when a kid comes from college and strikes out 14+ in their first start, it's more probably than not that they have star potential.Karl Spooner of the Dodgers in 54 pitched 2 complete game shutouts for the Dodgers in September. In 18 innings he struck out 27, 15 in the first game and gave up as I remember only 5 hits. It was the greatest start in Major League history. To make a long story short I don't think he won 15 games in his career.
Bob Feller in his first Major League Game sytruck out 17 he was 17 years old at the time. He was the only shooting star that lived up to his promise.
Lindy McDaniel & Bobo Holloman come to mind!
This thread/post is way, way premature.
Strasburg is playing for a bottom feeder and they are simply being cautious w/ the future staff ace. I have no problem with that. If he stubs his toe their going to sit him out a week! THIS season means nothing to the future of the Nationals franchise. They have several young pitchers on their staff and w/ the addition of a few free agents they could easily be a .500+ team....and a few seasons away from contending in the division.
Being cautious w/ Strasburg right now is the right thing. He is far, far from a bust.....

Anybody else know of a rookie that threw 14K's in their first major league start?
