I talked to my friend yesterday and he told me that his 5dimes account got shut down last week because he crashed the server....

He uses an agent and is on a credit account.

The explanation he got was that he would press refresh too often with the live in-game lines and it kept crashing the server.

He does not win a lot and in fact was down when the account got shut down.

does this make sense?

Sounds fishy as in Fishead.

Seriously, though, I'm sure he wasn't the only one refeshing.

Haven't i read something similar re Pinnacle punishing customers who do that too much,
although it didn't crash their website, but apparently caused enough of a concern for
them to block such guys from accessing the site. Although now Pinnacle even offers
an option where the lines update themselves automaticly.

plus it has to do with the possibility of scraping the lines. even though live events need to be refreshed it still could be a reason

It's called screen scraping and yes, if you refresh too much they will inactivate your account.

For most lines X-Files solution will work fine, but live odds are incredibly time sensitive, especially when they're basically up for only the second half of a commercial break.
