The Jaguars will hold him out of practice this week, but coach Jack Del Rio emphasized that Jones-Drew did not have surgery on the knee and no surgery will be necessary. The Jags seem confident that Jones-Drew will be fine for the regular season, but we wouldn't fault risk averse fantasy owners for choosing Ray Rice or Frank Gore at No. 3 instead.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The level of Jones-Drew's participation is not yet known, but this confirms that he'll start against the Broncos on Sunday. While Jones-Drew's meniscus injury is one to monitor and could get worse, it's not an immediate threat to his workload. Confidently draft MJD in the top-5 and use him in your lineup this week. Just be sure to snag Rashad Jennings as a handcuff.

Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jaguars Amid speculation and reports to the contrary, Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) insisted Wednesday that he is healthy.
"There is no injury," Jones-Drew said. "It's a non-issue. It's a rest issue. We've been working hard since April, and coaches and I decided it was better to rest." MJD finished the preseason with -2 yards on six carries. September 8 - 4:06 p.m. ET

Those aware of the situation know MJD missed the last two exhibition games and numerous late-camp practices with a knee injury. At one point, a report even surfaced that he had surgery. The Jags, though, don't appear to be concerned, and Jones-Drew should certainly be in fantasy lineups against the Broncos. Owners would still be wise to hang tightly to Rashad Jennings.

Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jaguars Maurice Jones-Drew was limited in Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury.
Perhaps the ankle injury sheds some light on Jones-Drew's limited role in Week 2, as he lost late-game carries to Rashad Jennings. The Jags were also getting blown out, of course, but this is a situation to monitor. Through two games, he has a 3.7 yards-per-carry average, no TDs, and a fumble lost. September 22 - 4:42 p.m. ET

Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jaguars Maurice Jones-Drew (ankle) was limited again in Thursday's practice.
Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter confirmed earlier in the day that Jones-Drew is in no danger of missing this week's game. The Eagles defense is far from a shut-down unit, falling victim to Jahvid Best last week as the first rookie in history with at least 75 rushing yards, 150 receiving yards and three touchdowns in one game. Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jaguars Maurice Jones-Drew was getting around without a protective device on his tweaked ankle on Monday.
MJD left and reentered the Jags' Week 4 upset of Indianapolis on multiple occasions, but the injury clearly isn't serious. He might be limited early in the practice week, but should start in a tasty Week 5 matchup with Buffalo. October 4 - 5:24 p.m. ET

Players with serious ankle sprains usually show up on Mondays in boots, but MJD was getting around without protection earlier this week. His Wednesday absence is likely precautionary. Jones-Drew is probable to start in Week 5 against a Bills defense that ranks dead last in the league against the run and has surrendered an NFL-most seven rushing touchdowns in four games.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>We expected Jones-Drew to return to practice, and doing so without limitations is a very encouraging sign. He was likely just getting extra rest on Wednesday. MJD is a top-two fantasy option this week against the league's worst run defense at Buffalo.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Jones-Drew said his hand is swollen, but it's "nothing serious, no structural damage. That's it." The Jags have an extra practice day this week, so Jones-Drew is getting some much deserved rest. Count on having him as a RB1 this week, though Jones-Drew owners should have impressive rookie Deji Karim rostered for insurance.

Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jaguars Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) was held out of Jaguars practice Wednesday.
Jones-Drew was seen running onto the field by reporters at the start of the workout, so it looks like just a day of rest. He'll square off Sunday with an Indianapolis run defense MJD has dominated throughout his career. December 15 - 6:01 p.m. ET

His already limited mobility may be compromised in this difficult matchup. Jones-Drew is the hottest running back in the league and must be in all lineups. The Jaguars inactives: Third QB Todd Bouman, WR John Matthews, WR Tiquan Underwood, T Daniel Baldridge, DT Nate Collins, DE Aaron Morgan, LB Justin Durant and S Courtney Greene. Russell Allen is starting in place of Durant and Sean Considine is starting in place of Greene.
