So dumb. The kid gets booted from his team for a ton of off field shit and was likely in the process of getting bounced from the school. Instead, he transfers and says that the reason was because Oregon didn't have the program he wanted to study (you don't have to sit out if the school doesn't have your program... that's what I gather) and the NCAA sees right through it and says he has to sit out a year like other transfers.

Dumb.

I believe he was eligible to transfer without sitting out a year because he graduated. That's my understanding of the rule.

Ahh, maybe I heard it wrong.

A closer reading of one of the articles makes me think perhaps the NCAA transfer rule requires both conditions to be met: to have graduated and for the desired graduate course of study not to be available at the current school.
