First NFL game of the year, looking around town I saw -4.5, -5 & -5.5, game lands on 5....I'm amazed how many don't shop around much for lines. Especially with the NFL!! it's so important regardless the sport, these type of games over a long period of time that land on or close to the number put such a swing in your bankroll.

sucks! Sooner I didnt play the game but seeing how out of sinc the Minny passing game was during this game, the under sure looked like the vlaue play. Disappointment for the Vikings holding the Saints to 14pts and not winning.

Linesmakers know a lot more than the players...LOL

Anybody who bet this game and lost should swear off gambling...

People remember when the linesmaker gets close like this but forget how many times the linesmaker is off. How many people are going to be talking about how far off the total was?

Exactly

Only the very small percentage in which they are very close or right on stand out in people's minds.

But of course Sharky's main point is it always pays to shop for the best line and there's no disputing that...

played -4.5 early, fully intended to buy it back. +6 sat there for at least one day and when i got around to betting it had already moved to +5 everywhere. lots of 5.5 real late, but i thought the 5 isnt worth anything. games like this is when the books take a hit. so far in football most of the line moves are losers.

SIA had +7 at one time i was tempted to take it. But I saw Saints winning by about 10.

Which I guess would have if not for 2 missed FG's and a blocked PAT.

sports when shooting for a middle, how do you set up your bet amounts

did you have 1.1 units to win 1 unit on the side you liked and then 1 unit to win .9 units on your middle side

it really changes or depends from game to game, in this case i put a large amount on the +6 -110 because the line seemed to be trending down when I bet it, knowing I wasnt comfortable with that much I then hedged it with the -4.5 -103 bet.

i dont have a single strict forumula.

Whatever. i took Minn +4.5 +108 on Matchbook and lost. Saving the 10 cents in juice is worth it giving up the half point on 4.5/5 over the long term.
