I don't think he should get in whatsoever...no way, no how. He broke THE rule IMO.

My wife is from Cincy...obviously disagrees.

I know I'm in the minority, but does ANYONE agree with me?

strongly disagree, but im a reds fan. the integrity of the game was never challenged. if he bet against the teams he played on or managed id agree with you.

we all know one day he will be allowed in the HOF. but MLB will wait till hes dead, and thats just wrong

If you are a gambler...

If he bet ON the Reds, can you look me in the eye and tell me he never bet AGAINST them?

This is the crux of the argument. You cannot ignore this point...that there is doubt

i dont play for the reds but i rarely bet against em, i just dont play it if i think they will lose. in college i used to play pickup basketball at local gyms and wed bet small money, i never once bet against myself. ive never seen anyone shooting pool at a bar place a bet on thier opponent. of course those arent the same really as he could bet with anonymity were i could not have.

but nah i dont see why he would, its not like he was betting life changing amounts on games, it was like his per diem money. no one takes a dive for pocket change.

should jordan be banned from the nba hall? as gamblers we must believe if he enjoyed gambling and he was a pro athlete/sports enthusiast then he most likley bet on nba games, which means he must have bet on bulls games, which means he must have bet on them to lose right? barkley too. should we assume any pro athlete we see in a casino bets on thier own sport and on thier team to lose? or can we only advance the assumption one degree ?

baseball players have played cards in the clubhouse for years yet MLB wanted to give Mays and Mantle grief over thier time spent in Vegas after they retired. its all bullshit

i think its a mistake by baseball. the HOF has lost some of its prestige dealing with this crap in the 20 years since giamatti died. back then people would watch the induction ceromony and fans would flock to cooperstown every year but they made such a mockery of the institution by trying to punish Charlie Hustle that now the average fan cant even tell you who was inducted this past summer.

if i thought MLB never intended to let him the hall, id care a lot less. but like i said what really pisses me off is they are trying to punish a grownass man in thier own petty way by not letting him enter the hall while hes alive. gary carters in the hall and pete rose is not. wtf.

No way should be in. To say he didn't manage different because he had a bet on his team is pure nonsense.

The HOF is the lsoer without all-time hit leader, Charlie Hustle; who campaigned as the first singles; hustlr-type player, who would make 100K/year; lol; try to hire a major leaguer for that; plus ROSE was a winner; had to give his best every game; hard to believe he would ever have thrown a game; never saw him loaf or just "go through the motions."

Well for betting on horses but there should be a way for Pete to get into the hall for what he did on the field.Do I think he made mistakes yes but you cant take away what he did on the diamond but it will be A LONG time before he gets in or his biggest nemises Bob Feller passes away

And, when he didnt have a bet on the Reds, you can bet they lost. He would save the bullpen for the next game which he would be betting

I disagree, what he did on the field and in the sport deserves HOA the cheaters who take roids shouldnt be allowed in imo what he did off the field to me is irrelevant

Of course he deserves to be in, but what he did was stupid and a major no-no. He can't get a pass for it.
