This past week I have seen a bakery a mall and a store with signs about twitter and Facebook updates.

If I want to know what cupcakes you baked today just hand me a fucking menu or put a sign/website up.....don't make me sign up for twitter so I get 7 reminders a day for the next 2 months before I go back.

The only cool thing are the people like fairwarning who use specific twitter updates to help them cap games or get fantasy updates.....why the fuck do I want a nearby mall facebooking me?

It's called new technology. Great ways to market yourself or your company. I've made a lot of money from FB, I also (like the guy before me said) have run into a lot of old friends. Many from out of state that I wouldn't eventually see at the store someday. I'm 32, I grew up well before this stuff but even I can change. The people against it must be in there 80's or something.

Facebook is less annoying than those menus they stick in your door or under the windshield wiper.

I'm fine with Facebook, it's a great way to keep up with people you know 1000 miles away.
If you aren't into it, that's fine also, but you control the content, I use my facebook account often, but I don't post anything that would hang me down the road.

I don't think you closely read or payed attention to what was being poked at in a couple of the posters examples.
Nobody said they aren't into the new technology. What I got from reading their examples was the marks that most
of these people are becoming for themselves. I'm a young guy like yourself but I think these senior citizens are making
some good observations...........LOL

It's not a bad idea. People need to stop being fossils and get with the times. Lets face it the telephone is pretty much dead now. There are so many different and more effective ways to get the word out these days. Email, text, IM, Twitter, facebook etc... I used to be guilty of being too old skool myself. I didn't get my first cell phone until 5 years ago cause I hated the idea of making myself so available. Well I joined Facebook in March and have got in contact with a lot of old peoples. Some dating back all the way to the 4th grade. I will admit some people take the whole facebook shit too far and have diarrhea of the mouth and let their whole network of people know exactly where they are at, and too much information on what they are doing all the time. Plus that whole Farmville shit is pretty fuckin gay.

I disagree. I mean, if you want you can always totally ignore it, just don't sign up. But for those that want all that stuff, it's an easy way for people to track everything they're into and subscribe to what they want, all collected in one place.

LMAO I can't stand people that do that. Like being local celebrities. Hopefully enough criminals will break into homes while people are posting every detail of their life and gives some of these modern day idiots a clue.

Facebook is like a savior for simpletons. They are trying to infiltrate the entire internet, forcing you to join FB if you want to participate in Fantasy Football, Pickem contests, March Madness etc. I blame CBS and all other media heavyweights for their compliance with FB. Over a dozen times this I saw something on the web and wanted to get involved only to find that I had to sign up for FB (which I did long ago and since quit) and make new friends - "WHOOPEE!" Hopefully it is a fade that will pass. I don't care to see pictures of people and their pets or their new motorcycle whatever, who cares! Plus they sell all that info you sign up with. THe only prop I'll give them is that it is good for catching up with long distance friends.

i think its a good way for them to advertise with no cost...and in this economy, that might be the only way for some smaller businesses.....

Most of you people probably refused to get "on this new thing called, 'the internet'..." until 2001 or so.... Some of you probably still have dial-up internet service!

I don't use twitter, but have a facebook. It is what you make of it....

Welcome to 2010. I'm sure most of these companies aren't targeting you anyhow.

exactly...and don't forget about the people that continue to feed the cable/satellite beast 100's of dollars per month when they could buy a 9 buck netflix subscription and find anything else they may need on the internet...(watching them game right now in hd for nothing)
