I have not followed MLB wagering this season, but it seems like Holliday would be a bad guy to wager against. I'm an Atlanta fan, so I'm putting a small play on ATL today at +1 1/2 and on the ML. Am I throwing money down the drain here?

Your statement needs to be rephrased based on your stipulation. He's either a good guy to wager against or a bad guy to follow.

I like Atl here but am laying off. The line is a little high against ATL and I think the proper play is Philly.

It seems like you should not bet against Holliday. It seems like he wins constantly and would be bad to bet on the team he is pitching against

Gotcha!

To put things in perspective, Halladay's L3 outings came against @ FLA, @ NYM and Milw. In each game he gave up AT LEAST three earned runs in 6+ innings. Granted, he won each game due to Philly's offense, but he's beatable. Philly is 4-3 against ATL this year at home. The odds makers are baiting you to take ATL with that prioce. I think Philly is the play, IMO

i honestly believe it is tough to read into runs given up for some of these top pitchers when they have been staked to leads early. their job is to get outs anyway possible. if they are given a 4 or 5 run lead early they do not mind giving up a couple of runs. just my $.02.
