Guys I'm pretty shook up.

About 2 hours ago a 9 year old boy ran out in front of my truck and I
hit him square on at 25 mph.

I wasn't sure (and am still not) that he was going to live. It happened two
blocks from my house, and my first thought was that it was my own son, because
the kid looks just like my 11 year old.

They air-lifted him to the hospital, and I'm sitting here shaking waiting to hear
the news.

About 5 police cars came and they analyzed the scene and talked to witnesses,
and they assured me it wasn't my fault.

If you are a person of prayer, please say a prayer for the boy, his name is Clayton.

Any idea why or how he would just run in front of your truck? Was he going after a ball in the street or something?

Jesus!! Don't blame yourself Fester. If you were doing the speed limit and not drunk or high, you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He was running home, and the woods are near the road, he just came running out of the woods, and never even looked to the side - I don't
think the kid ever saw me until maybe the last split second.

He's in a drug induced coma for 36 hours.

Zit,

Kids are resilient at that age. The human body can do wonders to heal itself. Doctors can do wonderful things. The kid has a good chance to do well I believe.

The easy thing is to second-guess yourself. You may be asking yourself "could I have done something different?" or perhaps you may be wondering "if I only went to XXX place instead of driving home this wouldn't have happened". Don't fall for those thought traps. From the sound of it you did everything you could to stop and it's not your fault.

Everything happens for a reason. I believe that you believe this. Hang on in there buddy and let us know how things go.

No shit what?

You really think a picture on a gambling website has anything to do with a kid recovering from getting hit by a truck?

Jesus, Now I know why most of you lose your bets.

PS - Hang in there FZ...My prayers are with you and the kid.
