I know you can go into a bank and get one.

but what about from your brokerage account (Merrill Lynch, UBS, Smith Barney, MSDW, etc.)?

Assuming all funds have already been sold and are sitting in cash available for withdrawal....is there a lengthier process or do they operate like a bank?

I have not seen a teller so I don't know how this works.

OMFG.

Don't get me started on Cashiers checks. They are no way of handling business in today's world. These things are the devil. Long story short, I recently had to get a $2,400 bond on a cashiers check because it got lost in the mail and it's a check being delivered to me.......don't ask for details, had enuf of reliving it.

Conduct business another way if you can......perhaps wire.

I will be handing the cashiers check in person per request.

I just am curious how long my brokerage account may take to get me one.

Depending if you are paying for overnight shipping or not. However, if you request it Monday, they should be mailing it by Tuesday.

I think the above poster's check was probably lost and if I am not mistaken, a 30 day hold must be placed on a cashier's check.

Why are you taking money out of your brokerage account for gambling? Don't do it.
