Want something like a 50 inch. Flat panel, HD, all that. Haven't been paying attention to the TV market lately. Anyone bought anything? What should I avoid? What's a fair price? Thanks in advance guys. TheRX is usually good about answering my random questions.

Might have to check it out. I just don't know the first thing about what the "best" is anymore. So much new technology.

Pioneer@), if you can find one. Some are still out there. Some models: KRP-500M (best monitor ever made), PRO-111FD, PRO-101FD, & PDP-5020FD. They are simply the best. I have the 500M and it is awesome<><>

These are all 50 inch I believe

I would definitely buy an LED over plasma and LCD. The electrical consumption of LED tv's is around half of a plasma or LCD. They may be more expensive but after a year, the difference in your electricity bill will more than make up the difference.

I am no expert on the subject, but do TV's really consume that much electricity? Enough to save $200-$400 per year by buying an LED?

That just doesnt sound right to me. Its a TV. Not a washing machine or a dryer.

No they don't. I have the 500M, which is very very hight watts (one of the highest made), but its calibrated and only costs a few dollars per month. Myth on many ends.

Love my Panasonic 58 inch Plasma...just like being there!

Absolutely agree with Fish on 1080 vs. 720.

720 is fine. It all depends on the size of the screen. 1080 on a 37 inch screen won't be noticeable.

The bigger the screen the higher the resolution you need.

Remember, there's no point in getting a HD tv unless you have HD service. Check how much extra it's going to cost you to get HD turned on at with your cable company.
