seems like lee REALLY pitches well against the Yanks, and against every other team, still pitches well, but looks human. I, as im sure everyone else, likes the under. But how could you not like the under in almost every game one. Game one is so important, if the games are close every team is throwing out their best pitcher and best relievers.

their are certain players that excel in the spotlight, that thrive in the post season

Lee has only had one post season, but it was a one sensational post season

I'm thinking he shows what he's made of again

If those are his 09 Post season stats....dont forget that was mostly against the NL, and the yanks..which for some reason he is extra juiced for everytime he plays them.

I'm in the middle of an in depth breakdown of that series I will post for you all in a little while, but I'll tell you this much, Lee is a very big value.
Price's OBA against the current Ranger lineup is .397.
That's ridiculously high.

Lee Lee Lee... What about Price?? He is the better pitcher of the 2. Plus Rays got better pen. Sorry to say this but the Rays take this one.

reading this thread im surprised the over wasn't mentioned...Lee has not been dominant for most of this year, particularly since he went to Texas - there is his postseason aura but it is hard to just flip the switch when you havent had it for awhile -- on the other side, the Rangers lineup murders dead-red pitchers, just take a look at their stats against Price...both of these teams can hit and a 3-3 game gives a push at worst -- hard to play a total in game one but i think they come out swingin

Rangers hit Price harder (a lot harder) than Rays hit Lee.

Lee's 2010 regular season was better than his 2009 regular season. Following 2009, he was the best post season pitcher in baseball.

I respect Price, he had his first great season, but he's never had a post season start. He still has to prove he's going to be as good a post season starter as Lee was last year. Maybe he'll be just as good as, but he can't be better than Lee.

Part two of the equation, the Rangers lineup has been much better than the Rays top to bottom in 2010. Much much much deeper than the 2 or 3 bat Rays.

Walks and SBs are a very big part of the Rays game, but Lee doesn't walk anybody or allow base-runners. He has the lowest WHIP in MLB and a K/BB ratio of 10-1. He's allowed 4 stolen bases in 7 attempts.

I know this is no lock, but I think the advantage is with the experienced Lee over Price and the superior lineup.

Human beings don't physically transform when the calendar flips...regardless of how sexy it sounds. Bad ptichers tend to be bad. Ok pitchers tend to be ok, And great pitchers tend to be, well, great. Bottom-line: season-ending trends tend to continue. I for one like Price to out-duel him and actually also like the over here, believe it or not. Ten runs were spotted 8 weeks ago when the identical pair aligned, and I expect a similar output today in the opener. I'll take my chances with eight runs between theses two offensives, irrespective of who's on the bump to begin with (they've averaged 11 head-to-head this year).

Respect to all though, and good luck.

"Rangers hit Price harder (a lot harder) than Rays hit Lee."

Huh? Unless I'm in error, Price has faced the Rangers ONCE all year, giving up 2 runs in 6 innings, while Lee has given up 13 runs (and 24 hits) in 23 2/3's and lost all 3 of his starts vs the Rays...including his only head-to-head match-up vs Price.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rays are the rightful fave in this game and getting them at -122 is some decent value, IMO.

Ranger batters that are on the playoff roster are 16 for 56 lifetime against Price.
That's .286, and to make things worse the current batters that are on the playoff roster get on base 40 percent of the time agianst Price.
A .397 OBA against means for every 5 Ranger batters that climb into the batters box against Price, 2 of them will reach base via walk or base hit.

Compare that to Lee who the current Ray lineup is 43 for 182 or a BA of .236 and a studpid ridiculous .272 OBA against.

My statements are based on lifetime stats, not one game start.

My money is on the pitcher that gives up one hit every two innings and walks nobody,
My money is not on the pitcher that gives up a walk and a hit every inning.

But that's just me.

p.s. in real life I don't give a rats ass about either team, so there is no bias in my pick.

Click this link, which Ray is going to hurt Lee this afternoon based on these numbers?
