Why else get rid of Moss for 3rd rounder at this point in the season?

Could be good chance there is no season next year so why give up on a guy like Moss now?

It's like owner Bob Kraft doesnt want to possibly have to pay him 8-9 mil yr for next 2 years. Only other Pats that is making alot of money tied is Brady.

I think Pats made big mistake here. What you think?

no..Kraft is just a selfish prick. He doesn't give out contracts that Randy was looking for and he wasn't going to budge.

I mean look at what he is doing to Logan Mankins.......Mankins is still sitting out cause Craft wants still wants from him a 'public apology or statement'. dude is a looney.

the Pats make these types of moves all the time and they just keep winning. If they thought Moss was playing well and could help them win the championship, they let him play out the season and forget about a 3rd round pick.

He didn't catch a pass Sunday. I think they think they're better off without him.

Having said all that, I'm going to miss him and I'm bummed about the trade.

Thet got Moss for a 4th rounder and traded him for a 3rd rounder. It was a nice fling. He had zero catches the other night and looked like someone shot his dog after a complete team win over a quality team.Time to move on.

in contrast Tom Brady had a efficient but non flashy night. But after the game said "I want to play for this team for ever."

Moss wears out his welcome with every team. He likely pissed of Kraft by acting like a spoiled brat at a charity event, and his random press conference after the Bengals game didn't help either. He supposedly was very well liked in the locker room, but I guess the Pats figured it was better to get something now rather than hold their collective breath to see if the guy was going to show his displeasure at no contract extension by not going all out.

The Patriots will receive a 2011 third-round draft pick in exchange for the seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, who started his NFL career with the Vikings in 1998. Had New England allowed Moss to leave in free agency next offseason, it would have received a third-round selection in the 2012 draft as compensation.

So the Patriots get their 3rd rd draft pick one year sooner. Bad move for Patriots. Opportunity for another Patriots Super Bowl just went out with the departure of Moss. The only smart part of the move by Patriots was making Moss available for the Vikings to use against the Jets, Monday, in hopes that Vikes can pin another loss on their division rivals.

I notice that people who are NOT fans of New England have a problem with this trade. I don't like it, but I understand it. Belichick made a similar trade with Deion Branch. Think Seattle wants a refund? Think Oakland wants to redo the Seymour trade?

As for Kraft being cheap for not giving Moss a raise, go ask your own bosses for a raise. Then call him cheap for saying no.

Yup. It sounds like it was personal.

The trade probably didn't make sense from a solely football standpoint.

this is a joke in my opinion they are comparing different years has nothing to do with moss... its like one of those systems where you can come up with a reason to bet a team.

Fact is Moss has never won a SB.And has poor playoff stats and is not a cold weather player period.Over the years Brady has forced the ball to Randy to keep him happy and the bottom line is it hasn't worked.

the pats 3rd pick will most likely end up being the best player in the draft, somehow that has been their luck

I don't like it either. That being said, I don't say it's because Kraft is broke or selfish ... or because Belichick is dumb.

Come on now Cincy, the bagboy at Stop&Shop asking his Mgr for a raise = Moss asking Krafty for a raise? Kraft IS cheap and this is widely believed amongst NFL players. The Pats don't pay their players, except maybe Brady, what they actually deserve. FWIW, I'm all Moss-ed out for today so thats all I'm blathering for now. The only other thing I will add is that this is one of the most one-sided deals I've ever seen in my life. If I'm a Viking fan (I am a little) I'd be dancing in the streets. Now they make playoffs, without Moss they don't. Favre continues to be one of the luckiest SOB's of all time.

Moss was acting like a selfish prick and the Pats had enough of him.

If he was even acting half decent Brady would not have let this trade happen.

Also, the Pats have no super bowl hope this year - would be complete luck. Their secondary is atrocious and their linebackers are not much better. You don't win consistently 45-35.

Now they rebuild with 6 picks in top 3 rounds next year. Also wouldnt be surprised to see them trade some of those picks to bad teams this year for marquee receivers or corners who are under contract for 3-4 years...

Something to consider; the Pats got more back from the Vikings in the trade than what they gave up to get him, and now Moss is three years older. Tough to be one of the worst trades when they made a much better trade to get him than when they got rid of him.

The Pats were a dynasty before him and they will be fine without him. He's a great player, but he doesn't go hard every play, wanted an insane contract, caused Brady to force a certain amount of passes to him to keep him happy, and just a terrible negative attitude in all his press conferences this season. That's fine that he wanted his money, it is simply his job after-all and all of us would want more money at our jobs, but he didn't fit in with the Patriots organization and they moved on.

If there's one thing the Pats do well it is make smart trades at the right time. Everybody called the pats stupid for dealing Seymour away to the Raiders and now that trade is looking like an absolute fleecing for the Pats as they'll get maybe a top 5-10 pick in the next draft, and have the chance to replace Moss if they choose to do so with a young stud WR.

What the fuck is "cheap"?????

The Pats spend to the cap. That means New England spends the same amount of money that, say, the Dan Snyder and the Redskins do.

Only the Pats aren't dumb enough to give Albert Haynesworth a huge contract.

Secondly, the Pats made their own stadium. How many other teams can say that?
