According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin denied a report that Bob Brenly was close to agreeing to being the club's next manager.

Doug Russell of WSSP in Milwaukee reported earlier this morning that Melvin was close to accepting the job, but Melvin told Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he hasn't even interviewed anybody yet.
