No, still pissed at DirecTV for being useless. Had Cable for a few years now and I like it much better.

First of all, you don't have to give up your internet....or your digital phone if you don't want to. You just might lose your "bundling" package which isn't much anyway. I was thinking of doing the same thing until I got the "RED ZONE"! If you tell them your getting DTV, they will turn you over to the Retention Dept., and they just might offer you the same deal that I got. Two years FREE of the RED ZONE PLUS $100 cash. This was with Cox Cable, but I'm sure others are the same.

I got a package deal now... I think it be more money for both

I was looking into Hughes Satellite service and there are a lot of restrictions with it:

Q: Are there activities that are not recommended for use with a Satellite Connection?

VPNs.VPNs do not work well over satellite. You may use a VPN with HughesNet plans, but you will likely experience reduced speeds by as much as 50–75%. You can restore your connection to full speed by simply disabling your VPN client when your session is over. Note: HughesNet Technical Support does not provide help with configuring or troubleshooting problems associated with VPN clients.

Twitch Games. Time-sensitive applications that require fractions-of-a-second user inputs (such as multi-player “twitch” games or real-time equities trading) are not recommended with HughesNet® due to latency issues. Latency refers to the amount of time it takes a packet of data to travel across a network. With satellite service, that data must travel up to the satellite and back (about 45,000 miles). This round trip adds about a half-second delay to the total time your computer takes to communicate with a Website or host server.

Heavy downloading. The HughesNet Home Service plan is not recommended for heavy downloading. The Elite Service Plans are faster and can handle heavier downloads. Note however that the Fair Access Policy applies.
VoIP. Voice over IP doesn’t work well on a residential Hughes system with satellite due to the latency issues mentioned above. However, Hughes does offer a VoIP solution in the Enterprise market.

Streaming Video. Streaming Video is bandwidth-intensive. If you intend to watch videos you may exceed your download threshold. Check your current plan or consider upgrading to a higher bandwidth plan.

If you don't do those things, then you probably will be ok.

I don't know if other satellite providers have the same restrictions.

stay away from hughes, i had it for several yrs and it suck, heck i still got the dish and box here, i even had the pro and when is rain you had no service at all.But what hughes will not tell you, you have a downloaded limited every 24 hrs if you use anything on the net like youtube or downloaded movies it will not work.you will be cutoff and you have to wait until 24 hrs to get your speed back up...........It suck big unless the only thing you are doing is surfing the net....ck

I'm stunned anyone on here doesn't have DTV. How do you bet and not have the sports packages?
