The line has move from the Bears being a 2 1/2 points favorite to now being a 1 point dog ! Are bettors losing their minds ? What games have they been watching ? Cutler is worthless ! This self centered over rated piece of garbage will never become a real QB ! The best thing the Broncos ever did was dump this head case. Peyton Manning or Drew Brees might be worth 3 1/2 points but Cutler !
Peyton Manning or drew brees would be worth about 10 points easily. brees probably a little less actually, and Peyton a bit more; the colts with Curtis Painter as their starter would win maybe 4 games this year.
As for cutler being worth that much, i think so yes. He hasn't been very good this year but is a big step up from backups Todd Collins and Hanie. the offense will struggle to get more than 1 or 2 first downs on a drive with those two at QB, a poor offensive line, and no running game to speak of.
Might be with the worst game we see all year, but with Carolina at home and at least having the running threat with Williams and Stewart it's tough not to back them at such short odds. This may be their only game all season where they have the edge pretty much everywhere on offense

Not sure the Bears should have been favored anyway - not with that o-line! Also not sure if the offensive scheme real fits with the Bears backup QB.
Considering that Carolina is at home, Smith will be out, and the Bears DE is returning home for a little payback for how he was treated, it sure looks like a snoozer to me. 10-7 Carolina wins. Love the under.
From -2.5 to +1 is not 3.5 points. Think about it.
As to the question, they may have been watching the first 3 games of the season in which he led his team to victories and led the NFL in QB rating.
Furthermore, I think he is worth at least that much, though the original -2.5, I think, was already factoring in the substantial possibility of him not playing, so if he had been cleared, I would have expected a line of -3 or maybe -3.5. JMHO
Considering how badly Cutler has fared ATS, I agree with you...... Cutler being out is the best reason yet to put down some $$ on the Bears in this one. I'm in the Hilton contest and the line is Bears - 2 1/2. I,m sure a lot of contestants will be taking Carolina + 2 1/2. I doubt that I will however.
I concur, the Bears O-line has been exposed and Collins is a stationary target. Cutler was at least capable of rolling out and/or tucking the ball and running. Collins is a wooden indian in the pocket, much like Leftwich or Bledsoe. Martz is a stubborn fvcker and will not adjust his game plan, so expect another 6-8 sacks and about 40 rushing yards. Panthers will get their first win.
How much do you suppose going from +0.5 to -0.5 is? Even if you want to consider the remote possibility of a tie, that's just a half point. Furthermore, the 1 and 2 are not terrible valuable. In other words, going from -2.5 to +1 is simply not like going from +2.5 to +6, or +4 to +7.5, etc etc.
