he was standing by himself alone on his end of the ice. he was hunched over for a second, then just fell to the ice like a sack of potatoes. Out cold. Both medical personal came rushing out onto the ice. stretcher a few seconds later. Looks like a doctor even came out of the stands and onto the ice. Never saw him moving during the whole process of getting him on the stretcher and to the hospital. Announcers are talking about whether or not the game will continue

Man.....that doesn't look good. He didn't move the whole time. Not good. Hopefully he'll be okay.

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Thrashers general manager Rick Dudley says goalie Ondrej Pavelec is awake and in stable condition after collapsing to the ice in the early minutes of the season-opening game against the Washington Capitals.

The 23-year-old Pavelec lost consciousness Friday night and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Dudley says he probably won't know anything more until after the game.

There was a whistle at the opposite end of the ice when Pavelec suddenly fell over backward with no one around just 2:25 into the game. His teammates rushed to his aid and immediately called for doctors and a stretcher to be brought to the ice.
