I have been working with Poster "Sportsbet Tracker" I tell him what I need in a Excel sheet and Mike is alway there for me. I'm only as good as the people around me and I'm happy to call him my Friend.
I alway ask Players what is your Record...most cant tell you the Win and Lost record and most guess at the money part...."o Im up around $2000...when they are only $800 up...To beat any sport...you must be true to the Game and true to your Record if you want to win long term!!

The goal is to disciplined yourself Like I do with Action vs Investment plays not allow for deviation from a prescribed regimen over a long period of time. Dont bet a game because its on TV and I dont have anything else to do....This sheet will keep you on track...

I appove this tool to make you a better capper <><>

First of all, thanks to Ace-Ace for hosting this thread! As everyone knows, the most important factor to winning at sports betting is not just in picking winners (or selecting a handicapper such as Ace to pick those winners), but it is to maintain a consistent and disciplined method of betting that does not allow for deviation from a prescribed regimen over a long period of time. I created Sports Bet Tracker to follow such a regimen, making it much easier to maintain the discipline needed to win.

The concept is simple. Sports betting is based upon human interpretation of probabilities, rather than the natural law of probabilities inherent in casino games. Using handicappers or even your own system or methodology, you can maintain a record of all your bets, including aggregating the information from the odds derived from moneylines or built-in vigs, and allowing your betting to compensate for such discrepancies to maintain an advantage that allows you to win.

OK, enough geek talk. Here's the BOTTOM LINE:

If you or your handicapper, such as Ace, wins at an aggregate rate of 57% or higher, you should win a lot of money over a relatively long period of time.

First, download the zip file. Unzip it and extract the Excel sheet and the html Instruction sheet.

The Sheet is a Microsoft Excel sheet. It was prepared in Office 2003, so it can be read by most Office programs. It also includes an Instruction html sheet that you can refer to as well.

I won't repeat the instructions, but I'll give you some of the features here.

1. The sheet works with a single bankroll. It allows you to set up unit amounts based upon your risk criteria.
2. The units can be set based upon a static amount ($$$ per unit) or based upon bankroll percentage (% of bankroll per unit). For growing bankrolls, betting bankroll percentage is recommended. In fact, the sheet was designed for this very process, but I've also incorporated static unit betting.
3. Statistics for all six major sports are included. You can actually enter any event or match you want, though.
4. If you are always hooked up into the Internet, you can enter an event by one of the team's Rotation number, and it will autofill many of the fields.

For more information, refer to the Information sheet. Indeed, please read it before operating the Excel sheet, as there is some important technical details you have to know.

One more point: This is basically a development model for me, definitely not a commercial production-grade level release. While you can use the sheet in any way you please from a personal standpoint, and can certainly distribute it to others, keep in mind that I make NO guarantees as to its performance. Also keep in mind that you may need to allow macro security levels to be lowered for the application to work as well.

Any questions to working the sheet should be directed toward this thread. While I will try to answer as many questions by email as I can, the point of this thread is to publicize such problems so that if anyone else is having the same issues, they can also benefit from the dialog. If there are any glitches or quirks with the program that require a fix, I will maintain a bug list and incorporate the fixes into future revisions.

Finally: This sheet is free. No charge is being asked for it. The RX Com Indeed, if anyone can suggest improvements, let me know, and I'll incorporate them into future revisions. This post will contain the latest revision.

FIRST REVISION: SBT-MultiBet_01.xls (version 1)

Good luck, and if everyone can use this sheet in conjunction with Ace's fantastic handicapping record, you should not have any problems making serious money!

I'll try not to "hog" the thread as much as possible, but I do want to give some very important facts here.

1. As this is a regimented system of betting, the spreadsheet does not allow you to enter individual bet amounts. THIS IS INTENTIONAL. The reason is that the system will figure out your bet amount based upon parameters that you set for it. I do allow a "deposit" and "withdrawal" function to alter the bankroll, which can affect the size of the bets (using bankroll percentage-based settings). In addition, you can adjust the unit amount per bet (which corresponds to a "star" system, i.e., "3-star game" or "5-star game"). But setting the bet amounts completely defeats the purpose of the spreadsheet. Keep in mind, this is a betting regimen, not simply a scoresheet.

2. On occasion, the Rotation entry function may not work. This is either due to the Internet being down, your own computer router being down, or the Cover's site being down. The application uses this site to obtain the latest events: http://www.covers.com/sports/sports-matchups.aspx?t=0 . If that site is down, then the Rotation function will not work. You can still edit event through all the other text boxes and controls.

3. For now, I've only included the 6 most popular U.S. betting sports: NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA Football, and NCAA Basketball. The current version only allows those six sports. However, you can still use any other sport, and the system will keep track of the bet and assign amounts. The only difference is that you will have to assign a category for the bet. For instance, if you rarely bet NHL, you can use the NHL venue for WNBA, Nascar, Golf, Soccer, or any other type of bet. The only reason the Venue is used is for the statistics to be kept for each sport separately in the upper right corner of the sheet. I'm planning on adding an "Other" category in a future version, but it was a bit tough to add this time around.

Anything else that comes up, post here. I'll be posting some periodic articles with regard to betting in general along with supporting the sheet here.

How can I correct a mistake? I entered a previous NCAAF that I had bet $22 to win $20. It was entered into the bottom as a $20 bet with a and calculated an incorrecy $win amount; can't seem to be able to delete it once it's graded / processed?

Thanks for this tool!

Im having that same problem VV.

Another issue that I am having is saving my work. I keep getting a read only file error message.

I was kind of hoping to have 5 different workbooks. I would think that is easily posssible right ?

If I could just save 1 , I would be doing good.

Thanks for sharing all of your hard work SBT. This is kind of like the tracker that you built for ACE in his "win $$ or lose the BR " thread....

I haven't added the following warning: "Before you commit the graded bet, make sure everything is correct!" I realize that correcting a bet should be a common task, even after grading. With this particular Excel sheet, it's rather tricky.

To remove the bet, you are right, it's a bit difficult, but it can be done. It is a bit tricky, so follow these instructions:

(If bet is the LAST bet on the bottom grid)

1. Select Tools > Protection > Unprotect Sheet
2. Note the row number of the last bet.
3. Note the colors of the cells in the last row that contains the bet data in the grid, the colors are either green or yellow.
4. Do NOT erase anything directly in the green cells, even if they are blank.
5. Erase data in the following cells: Event Date, Transaction, Units, Unit Amount, Bet Amount, Venue, Team / Teams Selected, Line, Odds (Amer), Odds (Dec), Result, Amount Won/Lost
6. Note that data in the green cells may disappear in some circumstances when you remove some data in the yellow cells. This is supposed to happen.
7. You are done deleting the record.

(If the bet to erase is NOT the last bet in the grid:)

1. Select Tools > Protection > Unprotect Sheet
2. Note the row number of the bet you wish to remove.
3. Note the colors of the cells in that particular row that contains the bet data in the grid, the colors are either green or yellow.
4. Do NOT erase anything directly in the green cells, even if they are blank.
5. Erase data in the following cells in the row that contains the bet to delete: Event Date, Transaction, Units, Unit Amount, Bet Amount, Venue, Team / Teams Selected, Line, Odds (Amer), Odds (Dec), Result, Amount Won/Lost
6. Note that data in the green cells may disappear in some circumstances when you remove some data in the yellow cells. This is supposed to happen.
7. Now it gets really tricky. You will be making TWO cut/paste operations.
8. Click the cell in the column "Event Date" on the first remaining row of bets that are valid, and drag the mouse to the last remaining row of data on "Transaction" (one column to the right). Once the selection is made, right click and select "Cut".
9. Select the now-blank cell on Event Date. It should be the cell above the cell of the data selected.
10. Paste the selection into the cell. The data should effectively move up one row.
11. Click the cell in the column "Units" on the first remaining row of bets that are valid, and drag the mouse to the last remaining row of data on "Amount Won/Lost" (nine columns to the right). Once the selection is made, right click and select "Cut".
12. Select the now-blank cell on Units. It should be the cell above the cell of the data selected.
13. Paste the selection into the cell. The data should effectively move up one row.

Once the data is deleted (and adjusted), save the file. Once the file is saved, close it, and reopen it. The sheet will be ready to go again. Re-enter the bet the way you want to this time.

Note: there is no specific "Bet x amount to win y amount" betting option as the regimen is not meant to perform that function specifically. The only way to bet like this is to make sure you know beforehand the proper fraction, which have to be entered in American odds (in this case, -110). I will see if I can work a specific case in the next version.

QUEEN OF HEARTS, here is your issue:
Another issue that I am having is saving my work. I keep getting a read only file error message.
Close the file. Right click the icon, select "Properties". Look at the bottom of the General Tab in Attributes. Uncheck the box called "Read Only". Everything should be ready to go now.

This happens on some systems when they remove the file from a zip file. On some operating systems, files open as read only for security reasons, so I'll see if I can figure out a way to counteract that potential problem. In the meantime, I will include the "Read Only" check in the instructions from now on. Thanks.

I will make changes to the application so that errors can be removed through a more automated process. Give me two days on this.

GENERAL QUESTION: As a side note, is there a way I can make unlimited editing changes in this thread only? That is, to remove the 7-minute editing limit? Thanks.

Just to let everyone know, the next version of SprortsBet Tracker is coming out by then end of the week.

The improvements made to the new version are killer, babe. Included:

  1. Increased ease of selecting an event.
  2. Ability to go immediately to the Covers "Trends" page for comprehensive update information on events
  3. More bet choices for all events, such as Runline / Puckline for MLB / NHL, ability to create more venues other than the main 6, and even the ability to enter custom events such as NASCAR or PGA entrants
  4. Ability to remove ANY bet from the application, including already-graded event
  5. Breakdown grids for Units bet, Venues, and even Bet Types
  6. Ability to create a set amount on a bet (as opposed to what the Tracker recommends based on units)
Finally, if you have enjoyed the use of the first version of SBT, you can now import all those graded bets into the system without having to enter by hand.

On Friday, I'll release the new site that will host the Tracker. This includes a comprehensive help system at my blogger site, as well as a Help forum, so any problems you may experience with the application will be instantly looked at and shared across the board.

Thanks to all who have looked at the first version. I guarantee the newer version will be of significant help. Thanks to Ace for posting this and hope to help everyone become a winner through automated regimentation of your betting strategies!

OH YEAH...forgot....IT's FREE FREE FREE!!

Yep, it happens. I still have a few glitches to take care of from the main website. So SBT should be ready by tomorrow morning.
