Yankees -140 or so

Reasons:

Sabathia dominated the Rangers this year
Wilson got roughed up by the Yankees 3 times and it should have been worse
Rangers don't hit lefties well (Yankees only a bit better, but they like Wilson)
Yankees hitting better lately

What stats are you reading...better yet, what are you smoking???
1) CC pitched them ONE game back in APRIL. That constitutes "domination???" His history against them is average at best.
2) Wison was 2-1 against them, the loss in APRIL, the wins in August and September
3) Rangers hit lefties .288 their last 10 outings, .266 overall. Yanks have the last 10 edge, but .267 overall.
4) Better than what??

He faced Texas once this year, back on April 16 where he was also opposed by Wilson. Sabathia came out on the winning end of a 5-1 Yankee victory, going six innings and giving up one run on three hits while striking out nine. He’s had a fair amount of success against the Rangers in his career, carrying an 8-3 record and a 4.29 ERA into Friday’s matchup...........decent not dominating.............

Sabathia's career ERA vs. Texas is 4.29, BUT....here's how the players that CURRENTLY play for Texas fare against him:

  • Andrus (0/2)
  • Cantu (1/12, 4 K's)
  • Cruz (0/5, 3 K's)
  • Francoeur (2/12, 1 RBI, 3 K's)
  • Guerrero (3/17, 1 HR, 3 RBI's, 3 K's)
  • Hamilton (1/10, 4 K's)
  • Kinsler (2/9, 2 HR's, 4 RBI's)
  • Molina (1/19, 1 RBI, 4 K's)
  • Murphy (1/6, 1 K)
  • Young (12/34, 4 2B's, 5 RBI's, 8 K's)
So, with the exception of Young and maybe Kinsler, it's not far off to say that he HAS dominated the current Rangers' hitters. Most of those inflated numbers have come against past Texas players who are no longer there. I like the Yanks tonight too. BOL.

1) He dominated them this season. That's the most accurate barometer of how he'll do against this year's offense. How he did against them in 2007 doesn't make a lot of sense since the team is different.

2) Wilson put almost 2 guys on base every inning over his last 3 starts and allowed quite a few earned runs. All starts this season. If a pitcher allows 20 runs and still gets the win, it doesn't mean he's likely to win again pitching like that. It just means he got lucky.

3) Yeah, they've hit them okay over their last 10. Haven't hit well overall lately and haven't touched lefties this year very well. You can bank on them suddenly figuring it out if you want, but I'm not going to...

4) Huh?

Jake, there's no difference between the two teams against lefties, but who cares. I looked at Yanks vs CJ but don't have time to regurgitate, but I'll take their two wins in his last two RECENT (vs APRIL) starts in Arlington. For the record, I have TX +1+. GL
