Nope. I do get pissed off when they tap on my window though. If I wanted to give you cash I'd be doing it asshole.

Lots around downtown here also. There is a small part that makes me feel bad and wonder what they have done through out their life to be that much down on their luck. Resorting to begging is the lowest point you can get too. Absolute desperation. Did they lose their job from their own faults, drugs, screwed up life from childhood? some people are just dealt a bad hand from birth. If I do give them something it is food of some sort, water bottle or even food gift card. Dont really like giving money just because it could be going toward booze, cigs or drugs. But occasionally Ill donate some pocket change

A lot of people feel bad for them cause they think to themselves what if that was me. That guilt and worry is what makes the panhandling so profitable. You don't need to have a permanent residence to get a job. When I was younger I remember my local Carls Jr. had a guy working there and he lived in the parking lot in his station wagon. Also when I got older and during my drug using days there was one guy who lived near my drug connection and he had a wife and three kids who were also drug users. He had a job but it wasn't a good paying one so he would make extra money dumpster diving or beg for money in the parking lots. Kinda respected that because he at least had a job but he just didn't get enough work hours to support his and his family's drug habits.

As for your regular homeless person you see on an everyday basis. There down on their luck story goes deeper than just a drug problem. I firmly believe these guys begging on the streets are sex offenders living on the streets. I mean I have a brother and a sister and there is no way I would allow them to beg and live on the street or something simply because that can't kick a drug or alcohol habit. However if by example my brother say molested my daughter or something then fuck him go off somewhere and die alone. These homeless people you see and feel pity for are there because they did some evil shit to make their entire family and friends turn their back on them.

I thought to myself that if I ever ended up in that position, I would just join the Army.

i saw an old lady pushing a shopping cart one day that was loaded with all her shit . she had to be 70 + .. it was around lunch time and she was near a wendys . i pulled in and bought her some food . handed it to her about 1/2 a block up the street.

other than that i have never handed a " homeless " person anything.

I do understand a large majority of homeless people are at fault of their own the way they are living, but it is possible to end up in that situation if a number of events happen that could suddenly send any of us that route.

What if you just happened to lose your job, you lost your home due to not being able to pay for it, or it burnt down without insurance coverage, didn't have any relatives, etc..........etc.................

It is possible and when a combination of those circumstances all just happen to hit at once, any of us could be there.....

Of course its possible but usually somebody who has been dealt a shit sandwich like that just commits suicide. I mean if you have no substance abuse problem, lost your job, your home burns down, and all of your family is dead what is the purpose of begging for food money just so you can live another shitty day.

If you come across a bum like that on the streets don't give him a dollar take him to church and introduce him to God.

I either spot them out and go right up to them and ask for some change before they get to ask anything...or if they ask for a dollar I say "sorry I only have hundreds"...blows their mind

I used to get off on this same exit every morning years ago. Same dirty looking guy would be sitting on a milk crate with a sign. Summer AND winter. One morning I watched as a woman in front of me rolled down her window and handed him what looked like a clear package of warm socks. He took them and thanked the lady. It gave me an idea. I hate helping these beggars but do on occasion. The next morning I put a pair of nice winter boots in a bag that didn't fit me anymore. Still in very nice condition. The next morning when it was my turn to pull up next to him and feel a bit guilty as he would look over at me with that sorry ass look on his face, waiting on the light to turn...I rolled down my window and handed him the bag with the boots. He oviously was thinking I was coming out of my pocket with some cash. He looked in the bag and with the most ungrateful look on his face asked me...well....what size are they?
Wanted to punch the fucker right there and then. Saw him days later walking with a girl as dirty as himself. Never again.
