Jeff Mattingly previews Game 1 of the National League Championship Series that's highlighted by a pair of previous Cy Young Award winners, as the San Francisco Giants take on the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

San Francisco knows it has the pitching staff to match the Phillies' trio of aces, but the team will need more than that to stop Philadelphia from winning its third-straight National League pennant. "You cannot underestimate experience," said Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins. "The first year, we were happy to get there." The Giants are playing in the NLCS for the fifth time since its inception in 1969, logging a 2-2 series mark in the previous four trips. San Francisco owns a 12-9 overall record in NLCS action, including a 3-1 mark in openers. The club is 45-39 on the road this year and 71-52 versus right-handed starters.


Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum was 16-10 with a 3.43 ERA in 33 regular season starts and is coming off a dominating postseason performance. He tossed a complete game shutout in allowing just two hits and striking out 14 in a Game 1 victory over the Braves in the NLDS.
