According to the New York Post Gibson, 54, is set to do a cameo in The Hangover 2. A source also confirms to PEOPLE the actor will appear in the movie.

The film will feature the same crew from the original smash hit – Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha and, notably, Ken Jeong as the wacky gangster – and will bring the pals to Thailand where the find danger lurking in Bangkok. Mike Tyson's cameo in the first installment tickled audiences and showed a comedic side to the controversial boxer.

Mel Gibson's 'Hangover 2' Cameo Canceled!
Posted 1 hr ago by Tom DiChiara in Hot Stuff, News
Hope you weren't too excited for that Mel Gibson cameo in "The Hangover 2"... because it's not happening.

Earlier this week, news broke that director Todd Phillips had tapped Gibson to play an eccentric Bangkok tattoo artist in the film, with the part expected to be self-deprecating in the same way that Mike Tyson's was in last year's "The Hangover." But The Wrap, reports that Warner Bros., Legendary Pictures and Phillips confirmed today that Gibson will no longer be appearing in the flick.

"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [WB president] Jeff Robinov and his team," Phillips said in a statement. "But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."

Just who in the cast and crew disapproved is still a mystery. While Phillips didn't name names, Vulture speculated that something was afoot in the "Hangover 2" universe that had breakout star Zach Galifianakis none too pleased. During an appearance on a Comedy Death-Ray podcast last month, Galifianakis said, "I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to [listen]... I'm not making any leeway." Of course, it isn't clear whether Galifianakis was protesting Gibson's involvement in the film or even referencing "The Hangover 2" at all... and it probably won't be clear for awhile.

What we do know is that if Gibson was hoping "The Hangover 2" would give his career a much-needed PR resurrection, much the same way Tom Cruise's hilarious turn in "Tropic Thunder" did for him, he better start looking for a new vehicle to make that happen.

Post#5, it mentions what the 1st movie does for Mike Tyson. The thing is Mike got to play himself. Mel Gib would play a role.

what did you think of the first one?

Was it funny to you?

ya . i enjoyed it. it was the quick lines by zach that made me laugh the most.

like when they are by the pool and stu say " phil , whats that on your wrist . you were in the hospital " without missing a beat , alan says " are you alright ? "

or the line about how they frown on masturbating on a airplane .. " thanks a lot bin laden "

adding the vomit part to the end of that scene was genius... there were just so many little things that you catch watching it multiple times that pay off.

there is another movie that i rank in the top 3 all time for comedy's that is similar. " this is spinal tap " .. you have to watch it real close for facial expressions and all the things around the joke itself that really work.

Hollywood is a joke.

They let Roman Polanski make movies even though he drugged and had anal sex with a 12 year old.

People are lining up to be in Woody Allen movies and he married his step-daughter.

Mel did nothing compared to those two guys.

Polanski the pedophile hasn't stepped on US soil for 33 years. I don't think
Hollywood has "let" him do anything.

That being said, I do agree with you that Hollywood is a joke.

Yeah, but actors line up whenever Polanski makes a movie. Didn't he win an Oscar for The Pianist a few years ago?
