Most of life is just noise

Been listening to some great music, and in a very reflective mood. You ever stop to think about life in the truest sense? Most everything we do is trivial. We work, we watch games, take care of responsibilities. Repeat week after week. All of sudden, a year has past us by. And then another year. And then one day we have no years left. Isn't there more to this life? Is this all there is?

Remember back in high school, before we'd all lost heart? Remember the excitement of playing sports, crushes on girls, dreams about our future, and all the things that we were gonna do? The feeling of being in love for the first time......like it was never gonna die off? Remember what it felt like to live? I do.

But then everything changes. One day, you wake up and realize that you lost heart many years ago. I think everyone knows what I'm talking about, whether they are willing to admit it or not. But what is the truth? Is the truth that one day, you just grow up and realize that there isn't much to life? That all those dreams and feelings we had as teenagers were really just not reality? Or is there a secret to keeping your heart alive, and really living life to the fullest?

I'm talking about having a rich life, but it has nothing to do with finances. I have so many deep friendships that have really died off, for no other reason than the noise that is around us all. Being busy with nothing important.

Everybody talks about living life to the fullest. But I don't know anybody that is doing it. Every one of my close friends shares the same feelings of having lost something that was once glowing.

So what is the truth? Does life generally suck? Or are we all just missing it, without even realizing it. Music tends to bring out these feelings that there has got to be a richness to life that I'm just missing with all these distractions.

You're right about most of that but it has more to do with life in America and not life in general. We're too overworked and can't enjoy life.

That is deep. And I agree with most of what you are saying. IMO opinion, it all starts on the inside. Find out what makes you happy, your passions and go for it. A lot of it has to do with people who have let us down....relatives, women, friends, etc. Me personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with taking an anti-depressant of some kind. I'll bet more people are on them than what you'd think. I felt the same way a few years ago. I don't know if I was going through a mid-life crisis or what. I went to the doctor and talked to him about it and he hooked me up. I feel a little better and am enjoying life more. Plus, I agree with KON- there is a lot of pressure on Americans right now. I know a lot of us who are working real hard to afford a mortgage on houses that are going down in value. Wtf? Leaves us little time to enjoy life.

We all go through Bumps in the road in Life.....Nobody is Perfect

Am I the happiest person in the World ? probably not...or at least not All the time.

Have you ever been in a position where there isn't the daily noise? In other words, have you ever been unemployed sitting around with nothing to interfere with your thoughts? That's boring. People would rather fill their lives with noise than have nothing to do.

I use to get stuck in thinking of the yesterday's and tomorrow's. But I remind myself frequently, all we have is today.

First and foremost i want to say i was very happy to see this post up this morning. I was going to write something to this effect in the "do you give money to a bum thread" The first thing i want to make clear and is the most important thing is that life is not all about "YOU." And when i say you i am not referring to anyone in particular. I am talking about all of us. In today's age, more than ever, we have made life all about US. We operate in our comfort zone in our box and take care of us. We often ignore that there is another world going on outside our own lives. Don't get me wrong we know another world is out there. but we just don't do anything about it. We often dismiss problems or issues by saying to ourselves "thats no my problem" or "what can i do about it" or maybe "sucks for them"

The world is filled with two types of people. Givers and Takers. We weren't put on this earth to TAKE! It's not all about us its about helping people and loving one another. I am VERY guilty of being a taker and making life all about me. And, it's during these times that i am standing in my living room, smoking a joint listening to music, and saying to myself just as you did "IS THIS IT?" I have a great job, live in a 4500 sq ft house, drive an 09 Escalade ESV, awesome girlfriend with 3 great kids. No money problems. Some would say i'm living the 'American Dream" But im not. At least not in my eyes. The posessions, houses, cars are all nice. but they won't leave you fulfilled at hte end of the day.

I feel in order for us to be fulfilled and live our life to the fullest we have to break out of your comfort zone to reach out and help someone. To actually make a true difference in someones life. We are all capable of it. And you don't think that is going to make you feel like a million bucks? Hell yeah it will. I'm not necessarily talking monetary help either. I'm talking about giving a helping hand to someone who needs help in any way. WE WILL NEVER BE FULFILLED IN LIFE IF WE MAKE IT JUST ABOUT US. I'm by no means a writer so i hope that made some sense to someone. Thats my view on life.
