Musician/Songwriter Tom Petty turns 60 today. Been grinding out MEGA Hits for quite a long time. "Breakdown", "Refugee", "Running Down A Dream", "Free Fallin", "Here Comes My Girl", "American Girl","Last Dance With Mary Jane", "You Don't Know How It Feels" and the list is almost endless. A true American Rocker.Tom Petty gets the honorary "Room At The Top Of the World" Medal for his long career and just being a cool dude.

Guitarist Mike Campbell has written many songs for the group, but Tom Petty has written many also. "The Waiting" is maybe the most popular one TP wrote.

One of the top 5 concerts I've been too in the last two decades.
Excellent sound and props!
Outdoor venue is the way to see him and most others. Better acoustics.

"Through exctasy, crystal meth, and glue, I've found no drug compares to you
All these pills all this weed, I don't know just what I need.."

So many good songs but I always think of Girl on LSD. The song still makes me laugh.

got 2 meet him this summer backstage at the SPAC....looks everybit of 60 and more...but he was/is kool as fuck....and him and the rest of the guys in the band were just down to earth guys...chatted a lil bit about horses and and even some upcoming college foots...knowing that a few of them are from gainesville..i knew tom bled the orange and blue....was pretty knowledgeable too....without a doubt those songs y'all mentioned are classics...but i would wager a guess that 'American Girl'..was his biggest hit....though i know the 'full moon fever record'(the one with 'free fallin')was prolly his biggest seller to date...

There is a 2 DVD documentary entilted "Running Down A Dream" that is filled with concert footage and old videos. It goes into Tom Petty's childhood, teenage years, his early days in Rock and Roll, the 80's, up until the present. If you can find it, it is really worth a view for music fans. I found it in the DVD Section at my local library. One thing I found interesting in the documentary is how some years ago his house burned down and the authorities expected arson was the cause and it was not an accident. He lost many many valuable items as you might imagine and basically had to restart his pesonal life from scratch.

no doubt...yeah great film..remember when sundance or ifc debuted it.a few years ago......peter bogdonavich did it..think he narrowed down 80hrs. of film to get 4hrs. worth...that is amazing within itself
