And, honestly, why wouldn't you believe it? You think Yankee fans are above that? Thats highly unlikely

Yankee fans are pretty stupid if this is true. It appears this won't alter Lee's decision to go there, but it certainly could have. They clearly need him or they risk having to face him again next season when it matters. Also read that Jeter is highly likely to get 4 years and 92 million. This is ridiculous. Time to move on.

There is no way the Yankees are moving on from Jeter. While on the surface the contract he will get from the Yankees may seem absurd, he generates a ton of money for the club so it is worth it to the Yankees whereas for another organization he wouldn't have the same value. Also as he approaches 3,000 hits he will put a lot of fannies in the seats. His skills on the field certainly seem to be declining, but his value to the organization has not.

Would be dumbest contract in the history of sports. He was paid $189M for 10 years because he was viewed as leader and true pro, but Jeter has also played with some of the games best role and superstar players over the past 15 years.

No player I respect more than Jeter, but no player is more overrated. He plays hard never boastful and humble, but an aloof and standoffish bastard, who would be nothing special if he played in Texas or any other non-New York market.

that is a little over board. You have to think of it off the baseball field from a business aspect. Jeter is the face of the Yankee brand. The amount of money he brings in business wise is unlike any other player. Yeah...his baseball skills may be declining but he is still is as marketable as he ever was. You don't think the Yankees know his skills are highly regressing? but yet they are still going to pay the man whatever he wants....why do you think that is.....
