um does every one forget this guy was one of the best RF in the game? gold glove caliber defense and strongest arm in the game hands down.

sure he hasn't played out there in a while and his knees are a little banged up but damn all those splendid years out there have to count for something. he'll be fine.

He has had just one season with a positive fielding UZR since 2003. He is clearly a below average fielder at this point in his career.

People like to over-hype the shit out of nuances and pretend like they're "insiders" and have one or more elements figured out that will make the difference in a series or game.

Of course VG is still a serviceable RF'er and, seeing that there's 6.2 chances to them a game, a nearly certain reality that he will not likely significantly affect the outcome of the series, nevermind one game.

You can bet though if he DOES make one or two errors in a 6 or 7 game series that the aforementioned will squawk relentlessly how RF'er X, Y, or Z would have played the weather, confines, and balls perfectly and SF would have never blah blah blah.

The even more clever crowd will talk about the balls he DIDN'T get to, lol.

Let's not even get into the UZR...another horrendously flawed "Sabermetrics" stat that does little to portray conditional factors that vary as much as the blades of grass of which the game is played upon.

Manny is in the field every game he plays during the regular season and nobody freaks out about that...

What difference does it make, really? With Cliffie pitching, gonna be damn boring in the outfield. GL Mets.

Here's a hint ... maybe it was Vlad's 2 errors tonight (1 of which was conveniently "ignored" so Sanchez could get his record 4th double) ?

missed that. turned the game off after it was 8-2. Vlad coulda made played perfect and had 5 assists and they still would have lost the way they pitched tonight.

But to the point here, Vlad is an absolute liability out there. Not even close to what he used to be, you can tell just by the way he walks, let alone run. He has the gait of a 60 year old. Anyway, you won't see him in any more SF home games, he'll Dh in Arlington.

wow. talk about hard headed. atleast put him in left and let Cruz deal with triples alley. the one ball I saw Vlad trying to get to that Sanchez dumped on the 1st base line, looked like he had a walker in front of him trying to get there.

They changed that to what it should have been, namely, his 2nd error of the night. And it's stupid to minimize it, it didn't cost them significantly tonight, but it damn well could do so if they keep him out there for game in SF...

Irrespective of who's standing in right field for EITHER team, you can bet their defense will not make a difference in this series.

1 game in: no matter.

Let's keep this thread alive and see. I'm sure we can all agree on reasonable misplays.
