The San Francisco Giants upset the odds to beat the Texas Rangers 11-7 in Game One of the World Series on Wednesday night. Nick Shiambouros looks at the betting ahead of the second game tonight
Texas ace Cliff Lee had a nightmare outing in California, giving up seven runs on eight hits in an unexpectedly high-scoring first game to the World Series. Lee could not hit his spots all night and it cost him dearly.
Tim Lincecum also struggled for San Francisco giving up four runs but his team were able to out-hit their opponents. This high-scoring game was something of a surprise, considering it featured two world-class pitchers.
Game 2 of the series takes place on Thursday night.
CJ Wilson will be on the hill for Texas. This left-hander has a similar style to Lee which combines accuracy with power. Wilson won 15 games in the regular season but has been a little shaky in the playoffs. He needs to settle down early in this crucial game
