Broncos to begin 3-game football series with Spartans in 2012
ANOTHER MARQUEE OPENER
The Boise State football team will open the 2012 season on Friday, Aug 31, at Michigan State of the Big Ten. The Labor Day weekend game will be televised by ESPN. Boise State will receive $1.2 million, the second-highest payout in school history. Both teams are undefeated and ranked in the Top 5 this season. It will be the fourth straight year that Boise State opens the season against a BCS-conference opponent.
GAME ON THE MOVE
To make room for the Spartans, the Broncos moved their game at Oregon State from 2012 to 2016.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
Boise State still needs two games in 2011. The 2012 schedule likely is full with nine Mountain West games, Michigan State and home games against Miami (Ohio) and BYU.
BIG TEN IN BOISE The Spartans also agreed to a home-and-home deal with Boise State for 2022 and 2023. The first game will be at Bronco Stadium. The Spartans are the first BCS-conference team from outside the Northwest to agree to play a regular-season game at Boise State.
