Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin: Going Off As The NBA Season Rolls On

Last night,
Blake Griffin led the Clippers to a major victory in Los Angeles over the Miami Heat, 111-105.
While DWade scored 31 points, King James added 27, and CB4 had 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Heat, it was Griffin (24 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists) who ruled the court and pulled out a W for his team.
More than just a human-highlight reel of hideous slams, Griffin has the whole package. He's been nasty since Day 1, but he is getting nastier as he plays further into his rookie season.
A month-by-month look at Griffin's stats show how, without a doubt, he is elevating his game across the board:
Numbers:
October ~ 16.7ppg - 11.0 rpg - 2.3 apg
November ~ 20.9 ppg - 11.7 rpg - 2.7 apg
December ~ 23.0 ppg - 13.5 rpg - 3.9 apg
January ~ 25.0 ppg - 14.8 rpg - 4.8 apg
Griffin is a points-rebound machine, recording his 30th double-double of the season (in 37 games) in the win against the Heat. In fact, Griffin has had a DD in 24 straight games. (Note: Karl Malone has the NBA career record for doubles with an amazing 779...Wow!!!)

One area that Griffin has also stepped up in is free throw shooting. Because he battles down low and doesn't avoid contact, Griffin goes to the line a lot. To make the other team pay, Griffin needs to consistently sink his free throws. For the first 30 games of the season, the 6'10 power forward was hitting less than 60 percent. However, in the last seven games, he is shooting just less than 70 percent from the stripe.
Blake Griffin will be the rookie of the year, no question, if he plays the whole season without injury.
Not only will Griffin be this year's ROY, but he has a good chance of being picked in his first season as an NBA all-star.
The Clippers dug themselves a canyon, going 3-15 to start the 2010-11 season. With Blake Griffin blasting off, the Clippers are taking down some of the top teams in the league....Just ask LeBron and friends.
