Say it aint so.

What a fucking sell out.

Kid Rock even suggested that Tyler get professional help regarding his decision to enter the world of reality TV.

American Idol thinking J-Ho (Jennifer Lopez) and Steven Tyler are going to save their azz from Simon's new show is wishful thinking...

So the sell out makes his debut tonight.

Never have watched an episode and tonight will be no different.

Rather watch Dick Vitale, who has been a part of my life as long as Tyler has, well Tyler longer actually.

As a kid Areosmith took the Island of Oahu by storm opening for The Guess Who and blowing them away thus Areosmith mania hit the Island.

And now this?

And J-Ho too......... Can't stand that no-actin, no-singing, gold-diggin Jennifer Lopez...

When she made the movie Enough, they named it that hinting to her that we've had enough of her attempting to act, and to please stop.............@)

Like it or not, the show is a force, while it may not get the numbers it got say 6 years ago, the show will continue to print money for FOX.

I'm watching it now. I don't "hate" J-Lo so much....Tyler? What a joke! I got sick of the commercials, "Let's get this season started...." w/ Tyler singing it!

I watched the first two seasons very regularly...but off and on ever since.

Fox knows AI is on it's way out...otherwise they wouldn't have paid the booku bucks for X-Factor rights IMO. They will phase AI out in about 2-3 years.

people worrying about Simon's new show competing with Idol has no relevance...Fox is smart, they will schedule Simon's show for fall, and Idol will come on in January like always....that way, they have 2 big shows, that will cover the whole tv season....Just like Idol never competed with America's Got Talent (simon's other show)...they were smart, Idol ends in May and Talent starts in June....they never compete head to head.....and while Idol isnt a juggernaut anymore, its still the #1 show on TV when it airs, and Fox won't give that up til it slips out of the top 10 at least.....

Predicting 2-3 yrs bucs.

you may be right....but they wont be jumping ship til it does...still a huge moneymaker.....the production costs are a lot lower than a scripted series with actors

I hate so called reality tv. Its the furthest thing from reality.

I went to the pawn shop in las vegas this summer where they do the show on the history channel.

Yes they have a regular pawn shop where you can buy and sell normal items, but ALL the stuff for the show is scripted.

People send in unique items via the internet, if they get approved for the show, the person(s) that has the item gets flown to Las Vegas with paid hotel and flight. The show hires expert in the field of the item that person(s) is selling to evaluate the item and give it a price. It is 100% scripted.

Its not like they have you believe when you watch the show. Its not like Joe Blow walks into the pawn shop with his items to sell with the cameras rolling. The skits that the dad and brothers do are written by holywood writers, just like all the other "reality shows"

Steven Tyler is 62 years old. And his days as a rock frontman are behind him. If he was 40 years old I would say he was a sellout. But Tyler is drawing social security checks. It's time to move on to other things. Besides, I thought he was the best thing about the show last night. J-Lo was a boring drip. Although she is still nice to look at.

'American Idol' premiere ratings: Biggest drop yet
by James Hibberd

(Michael Becker, Fox)
Well, it’s not like anybody expected them to go up.
The season premiere of the pivotal 10th season of Fox’s American Idol fell in the ratings compared to last year.
Idol drew 26.1 million viewers, down 13 percent. Among the key adult demo, the show earned a 9.7 preliminary adults 18-49 rating, down 18 percent from 2010′s opener. The largest declines were among younger viewers, with teen viewership down 28 percent.
The 18-49 drop represents the lowest-rated premiere for Idol since its 2002 summer debut, and the biggest drop ever for the show between seasons.
Either way, the figures are below Fox’s panic line. Falling is fine, goes the mantra, as long as it’s not too big of a plunge — say, more than 20 percent.
This morning, Fox insiders say they’re relieved, noting reviews have been positive, fans seem to have embraced the new judges and the show went head-to-head with ABC’s Modern Family and doubled its rating — all despite losing Cowell.
The biggest test will come on Idol‘s new night, Thursday, when the reality series will face steeper competition and audiences should give the network a greater sense of whether they’re digging the new judges panel. More analysis and ratings after the jump…
But in one good sign from last night, the rating grew throughout last night’s two-hour telecast.
In another: EW’s recap says Steven Tyler was “a marvel.” CBS agrees he’s the “early fan favorite.” New judges, same tune says Chicago Tribune.
Idol utterly crushed Paula Abdul’s struggling CBS series Live to Dance (5.3 million, 1.0). But ABC’s Modern Family (11.1 million, 4.6) held up fine under the Idol pressure (here’s a clip of that walking-in-on-the-parents-having-sex scene). The second episode of ABC’s Off the Map (7.8 million, 2.1) slipped a bit from its lackluster premiere despite airing twice last week. The return of NBC’s Chase (4.3 million, 1.0) tanked. CBS tried out Blue Bloods (12.2 million, 2.0) at 10 p.m. and the show improved 17% on its Friday average.
Here’s the Idol premiere night audience over the past nine seasons:

that happens with most all series...as they get older, the ratings dip...nothing surprising...but as i read, on one of the ratings pages, they said "AI" slipped again this year, as it has each year, over the past 4, however, they are still ratings that any network WOULD KILL FOR......they got 26.1 million viewers......DWTS, which is the new phenom show the last couple years, and #1 during its run in ratings, draws 21 million at best, for its finale show of the season....
