Cam Newton Arrested- What Happened In 2008?
10-5-2010
With Auburn doing well and Cam being the subject of discussion in the Heisman Trophy, Newton is about to break several Auburn and SEC records. He had led the Tigers to a number 4 ranking in the Bowl Championship Series with a 7-0 start.
Newton says if everything was up to him he would still be playing in Florida as he had shared a long-lasting relationship with his team mates there. If it had not been for a bad decision made during the sophomore season in Florida, Newton would still be playing for the Gators. Newton was arrested in 2008 November on the charges of possessing a stolen laptop. When the theft was in question, Newton threw the computer out of the window of his dormitory room. He said he had purchased the computer from a person who was selling electronic goods out of his trunk for about $500. He confessed that although he knew at the back of his mind that something was amiss, thoughts about having to replace his recently damaged computer overshadowed his judgment.
After a pre trial diversion program the charges of burglary, larceny and hindering of justice hat levied on Newton were dropped. One can only hope that this does not affect his career.
