English Premier League Picks

After ten games of the 2010/2011 Premier League season, the table is beginning to take shape as Chelsea lead Arsenal and Manchester United by five points. There are more points on offer this weekend, but who will take them and where is the betting value? Let’s have a look.

Chelsea vs. Liverpool
The biggest match of the weekend comes from Anfield as Liverpool host Chelsea in the final game of the weekend. Liverpool’s fortunes have taken a turn for the better after being bought out recently and they have won their last two Premier League matches to move themselves out of the bottom three. However, beating Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers is one thing, but beating the reigning champions and league leaders is another. Chelsea have won 7 of their 10 matches this season, drawing 2 of the other 3 and losing just once – to Manchester City.
They are an impressive side and we expect them to beat Liverpool in this one, so we’re backing them to do so. Sportsbooks have them at 1.88.

Newcastle United vs. Arsenal
Also in action on Sunday are Arsenal and they host Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal will be the more fatigued of the two sides after playing in the Ukraine on Wednesday night while Newcastle have had all week to savour their 5-1 thumping of their biggest rivals, Sunderland, last weekend. Having said that, Arsenal have more quality in their side and, although Newcastle have had hard working squad, we expect Arsenal to score a few goals against them on Sunday.
As we’re expecting goals, we’re backing over 2.5 goals in this one @ 1.43.

Wolverhampton vs. Man U
The only side of the title chasing clubs in action on Saturday is Manchester United, who face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford for the second time in ten days. Alex Ferguson fielded a second string side against Wolves when they met in the Carling Cup last week and they emerged with a 3-2 victory. Wolves performed well that night and then went on to beat Manchester City at the weekend in their best performance of the season. Since beating Wolves Manchester United have won two games, beating Spurs 2-0 in the league at home and then winning 3-0 away at Bursaspor in the Champions League, and they will look to claim another win at home this weekend.
We feel that they’ll do so and we’re backing a home win @ 1.12.
