anyone know so many costa ricans can afford range rovers, cayennes,
luxury pick ups, honda crv, prados, etc? cost a fortune, not even counting
the cost to fill up with gas, or marchamo, or parts or insurance.
hard to figure.........

It's ridiculous how expensive cars and their maintenance can be in CR. Lets say a Corolla 2003 is $12K... In panama would've paid same prize for a 2008 or even a 2009. INSANE! ^<<^

They sleep in them? Or live in a shack? I know a ton of people in ATL that practically live in their car cuz thats all they can afford...maybe its the same here...

the secret is that there is no secret

there are not any 400/month driving a 20k car

you can find people with 1.5k/month driving a 20k car, that yes, because the financing you find here is not the standard 3 years you have in the US but SIX

I heard they have 8 year financing, but the rate is 18%.
Still has to cost close to 2000/month for financing and other costs/
or, am i missing something.
Not every person is drug dealer or money launderer, or am i being naive

negative, a brand new /expensive car can be had for 200 dollars /month

you are right about the 8 years (I saw some the other day......ridiculous)

also that is with 50% down

a friend of mine that works at a bank says that a few months after each 'expo auto' they have to reposes a lot of cars for non payment

Well I do understand...a bit. because I did it too. But unlike Most, I only had to travel back and forth from the states to CR and back again, more then a few times
While there, Yes... Tons of things I couldn't get there. Still don't know if they ever got Cheese Wiz for their Philly Cheese Steaks at TOT.

But back in the Day, in margarita island it was kind of the same there at First.
After a while you will find the things that you like. Still not the States... but you get use to it.

1. $400/month is a minimum wage, not the average. No tico making minimum or average wage is driving a Range Rover or a Lexus.
2. Financing is for 6+ years, I've even heard of seven year financing for cars.
3. Many Ticos making more than average wage (say $1,500-2,000/month) will go into crazy insane debt for luxury wheels.
