Douglas mentioned in a thread the old 800 score lines...were there any other ways back then ? maybe having to stop in bars every so often or tv sections of Stores on those long boring shopping trips with the misses??

Good old Jack Price and the scorephone ... hahahahaha that was some funny shit.

Buddy of mine and I used to take turns calling him (at work) and messaging the baseball scores over to each other in the summertime. Our call volume was always high on those days

Remember CNN had the scores, but took forever. Also, Jim Feist scores were on late nights on my cable channel

I remember waiting for NFL Primetime to come on Sunday nights. Scorephone of course as well as this little baseball pager I had with one button which was a baseball lol. This thing was way ahead of its time it had a picture of the baseball diamond telling you how many guys were on base, inning and how many outs. Used to make funny noises according to what just happened in the game.

Headline News. They were the first to scroll them. I knew more about world events than most of my non-gambling friends. Before that one of the local radio stations used to give the scores all day Saturday, in line sheet order. :) (Just a way of life here in Youngstown.)

I would call 2 score phones that I had saved and call about every 20 mins to get updates as sometimes they didnt update right away or the line would be busy.I always remember Stu Finer on there that he had a lock or something to that effect when you called.

I remember when headline news took off the scrolling scores... I thought to myself that the cnn would go out of business within a week.

northcoast had a score phone -- LOL I USED...

WAY back early 70's watching the gambler James Caan would have to find out on the radio or next day paper, he'd sit in the tub listening to games on the radio, not much sports TV really either. NBA playoffs were tape delayed at night into the early 80's. 1 baseball game a week on a Monday night.

jim feist score phone and the CNN ticker at the bottom of the screen. Actually I go even older school than that when CNN only had a sports update 2 times an hour.
