I'm shopping for either a Sienna or an Odyssey (leather) in the $16k range. Been shopping and researching for over a month. These damn vehicles are a joke...80k miles and people want $15k for them..Very expensive. Anything with 50k and under is at least $18k. I'm thinking about going to an auction(dealer) with my cousin, but that can be tricky too.. He tells me they will fuck with vehicles so it seems something's wrong with them so they can get them cheaper when they cross the block.. Then there's the chance you do get a lemon.. Can't wait till this is over..

A little racist but I understand. Shopping for a grocery getter. How about home depot.

Why don't you just get a woman on the side and give her some cash for groceries and then pay her on the side with some sort of "service". A lot cheaper than $18K.

I don't see the racism/ prejudice here. Are these minivans or SUV's ?

Get one in nice condition with 100 k miles that is 8-10 yo for 5-9 k or so.

I have been looking into that option also... a beater van if you will, but it's hard to drop atleast 7k on a half way decent way with over 100k miles on it, crazy how people are thinking they will get 90% of bluebook when bluebook isn't even close to a realistic value.. Blue book is a god damn joke and people think it's the standard.

Thanks for trying to help me out Sparticus; I ended up getting lucky and bought this vehicle from craigslist.

Immaculate 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE. Only 38,xxx miles. Garage kept, never driven in the snow, all maintenance and service work done at local Toyota dealership from day one. Pearl white with gray leather, 10 inch DVD system, dual power sliding doors and power rear lift gate. The alloy wheels have not been scratched by any curbs! Compare on Craigslist, Ebaymotors or Autotrader and you won't find one nicer with as few miles as this one has on it.

I think you did OK with this, new it is probably near 30K ? A bit older but that is where the value is, esp. if you will toss 20k+ miles annually on it. It's almost as good as new ! $15,500 instead of $29,500 for a new one works ( IMO).

I'd have looked for a ten year old one for 7K with 80k miles myself....but I'm willing to gamble more on a used car. I'm very pleased with my 2000 model F-150 for $4800 from a few years ago with about 105k then.

These things hold their value, 38k is nothing for mileage !

I hope it serves you well !
