....isn't the runner down? And the ground can't cause a fumble. Total BS.

This i why i have quit wagering on all football, after over 60 years i will not let the officials decide a large percentage of games for me, as they have too much power & almost all rule changes give them more power, i quit almost 3 weeks ago. I may wager a few bucks come bowl & playoff time but for now i am totally disgusted with all of the bullshit,gl.

Where you not watching? They clearly explained the rule. If you dive head first the ball is live if it hits the ground before you were touched. Straightforward call. Which was the only one in the Eagles favor the whole game.

anything except a feet-first slide and he must be touched to be down by contact, by the time he was touched the ball was out and live for all.

by scrambling he made the play, he just didn't finish it.

Frustrating as Hell for a Giants fan, but Eli has been a turnover machine this year. Giants repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot. Too bad Coughlin can't fine Eli for that play, because he knows he should have gone feet first.

he dove, then abt 3/4 of the way in, he thought, 'maybe i should slide'. but it was too late. he was lucky he didn't break his leg.

Forget about whether he slid or dove, since when can the ground cause a fumble?

i was watching w/my wife & she said, 'the nfl has too many rules'. when i first saw it, i thought the ground couldn't cause a fumble. but then, since he wasn't touched, he could've gotten up and ran w/the ball if he had possession. so's i just have to go w/the announcers, although i never heard them address the 'ground causing fumble'.

Doesn't that part only apply for being tackled and hitting the ground?
Since he never was touched and the play was live, it shouldn't matter what caused the ball to slip out.

Ground cant cause a fumble when the runner is down. Eli was never touched so ground can cause a fumble. Look at Bradshaw's fumble that was reversed. He received the ball, was touched, forearm hit the ground and ball popped out. That is where the ground can not cause a fumble. GO EAGLES!!

I think trying to avoid getting hit and sliding might be alittle too athletic of a combo for eli to pull off so he just fell forward. Really do you want to see eli try to slide while running full speed? I could see him getting a cleet caught in the turf and lose the rest of the season. QBs are off limits anyways if you tap them on the helemt its 15...He clearly gave him self up he knew he had the 1st and wasnt diving for more yards.
