Allen Iverson scores 2 in league debut

Associated Press

ANKARA, Turkey -- Allen Iverson scored two points in his Turkish league debut for Besiktas Cola Turka in a 74-67 defeat to defending champion Fenerbahce Ulker on Sunday.
Iverson missed three shots in the first quarter and was taken off with less than a minute left. He returned at the beginning of the second half, but did not score until late in the third. He then returned to the bench for the rest of the game.
Besiktas trailed 40-35 at half time and rallied to tie the score 53-all going into the fourth quarter, but Fenerbahce regained control to maintain its perfect league record.
It was Besiktas' second loss in a week after a 94-91 defeat to Hemofarm Stada in the European Cup on Tuesday, when Iverson scored 15 points on his debut with the team.

All he ever had was quickness.

Once his age caught up with him, there was nothing left.

Similar thing will happen with LeBron James when he gets a little older and loses some of the unusual quickness that goes along with his size.....

I still give iverson credit. I dont think I've seen an NBA player get beat up night in and night out but still push forward

He always was tough. Would have loved to see him play college football or NFL.

never cared for him that much, but cant dispute the fact that the guy got banged around more than any NBA player around his size during his era..

I totally disagree. You don't average ~30 points a game for 11 years in a row in the NBA with quickness alone. The guy was a scoring machine, and as Larry Brown
once said, "the most amazing athlete I ever saw."

Pretty good documentary on Iverson, just released on Showtime.

I never knew that he was such a great football player too... And the "practice" clip he's famous for was totally taken out of context.

The guy got totally fucked on the bowling alley jail conviction also.

Foreign basketball is like the NBA to them while we view it at 5th grader level. Sign me to a pointless team, I will make them better. Foreigners should not be playing sports except soccer.

That documentary was awesome! They kept talking about it on the philly radio stations all week.. The sixers have sucked so long you forget how much the arena use to be rockin! That year they made the finals in 01, the city was all about the 6ers ... Hopefully all this tanking leads to something good!

Too bad (for him) he didn't hire a financial planner.....

His financial situation is actually a really interesting story. One of his friends saw he was blowing $ left and right and made him take his Reebok $ and put it in a trust for him that he can't touch until he is 55. It's like 30 million or something.

It gives him like 1 mill a year to live off of.
