My wife wants one, when we travel it's mostly by air so I'm not sure how much use it will get (so I'm saying I don't need the most expensive with every bell and whistle).

Portable so we can move it from my car to hers or take it with us when we travel.

Advice? TIA

i love mine. wouldnt do without it. i am in Vegas now and rely on mine when driving at night in Vegas. You dont have to look fo any signs. the sweedish honey tells you when to turn. But dont make a wrong turn because she will let you know. she can be a bitch. it tells you where banks, stores, resturants in the area you are driving. if you hit traffic, it will show you a detour route.

Sounds great, which one do you have? I have a smartphone and tried the GPS on it but don't love it...

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

I bought my first GPS earlier this year.
I didn't want to get the cheapest brand so I went one step up and bought a Garmin Nuvi 855.
It sounds like it would fit what you're looking for.

I have a Tom Tom....good most of the time. When you are in the city and making quick turns, passing streets quickly, etc...it sometimes can't keep up. Also, when you are near a spaghetti loop it is often confusing which ramp to take....or when there are multiple exits (21A, 21B, 21C&D...etc) it gets confusing at times.

But, they are good most of the time....

Get a good one and track your wifes movements. See who she might be hanging out with on the side.
