It doesn't matter when you buy the TV because you will always find either the exact TV or a similar model offered cheaper within 6 months time. My brother has been waiting almost two years looking for the perfect time to buy a LCD TV. For some reason people prevent themselves from buying that TV they want because they hear "There will be a better deal at X'mas", "Wait for New Years". "Best TV deals are on Super Bowl weekend".

Here is my advice. Either go on Amazon and browse through the TV's you are interested in. Read the customer reviews and when you find a model that you like and the price looks good. Check Best Buy's, Fry's Electronics or any of your local TV dealers website and see what their price is. When I bought my Samsung 52 inch a little over a year ago I basically got a $2800 model TV for $1499 and that same model was selling at Best Buy for $1899. By buying it online you save almost an additional 10% because no sales tax and depending what state you live in you don't get charged a disposal fee.

Option #2 if you like to physically look at what you are going to buy. What until December and keep your eye on the Best Buy ads and look for a nice TV bundle where you get a TV, gaming console, blu ray player and movie and games all packaged up for one discount price. If you have no use for the other stuff then put it up on ebay or craigslist or just return the extra shit after Christmas.

Yeah, hard to figure out. Problem is Black Friday's has Great Deals.. but they are Limited to what you can get.
Looking at the Ads like at Best Buy, you see where they say... 10 per Store, 5 per store.
Unless you are online the night before, you are just Not getting what's in the Ad.

Now as far as Samsung... Yes they say the Best....but Sony & Panasonic are not too far behind.

I remember going to Best Buy to get a 42" Samsung and there was a Panasonic right next to it. At First I thought it was a Samsung because they place Brands next to each other and as they were all on, I'm looking at the Picture quality...and I'm like...that was has a Clearer picture !
I look down and saw that it was a Panasonic !

Grab a saleman and start asking questions, he tells me it's just as good.
Of course I never believe a saleman... so I start looking at the Box, with all the Info
I think the only thing was it was missing one of the "Bells & Whistles" that the Samsung had. Everything else was the same... $129 Cheaper too !

Anyway, Here is where I check out All of "Toys" that I look for. http://reviews.cnet.com/televisions/?tag=TOCleftColumn.0

It's a Great Site and will tell you Prices...this way if someone is Running a Special I can compare it here. They even give you a few places, and their prices.

As sports fans a nice tv is a must. Don't cheap out, not saying to buy the top of the line tv but stay far away from the bottom dwelling companies. And don't ever buy a tv when it first comes out, within 6 months it'll drop about a grand

It is important that you make sure that the screen size is not too small for the living room. Where once a 35 inch TV was appropriate if you were 12 feet away, the LCD's need to be bigger for the same distance. I have 3 Samsungs all purchased within the last two years and the 32 inch is perfect for a regular size bedroom. A 40 inch is perfect for the master bedroom but a 52 inch was the correct size for the family room where prior I had an old 35 inch Mitsubishi. I have had many friends buy a 40 inch for their living rooms/family rooms only to be disappointed immediately realizing it was too small for the room. I would highly recommend at least the 46 inch depending on the size your living room and how far away your wife will be sitting from the TV.

I would also like to express support to your wife with her health issues. I have talked to Silver7 many times and he is one tough and good man and is very kind and the wise thoughts he shares having lived 78 years is a blessing for the listener. May you and your wife have a very Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday season.

oTED, Thanks for your kind reply,Silver7 has 6yrs on me as i am 72, seems to be a good person from the past posts that i have read of his. Wife is only 57 but suffers from adult scoliosis, diabetes & a few other health problems. The scoliosis keeps her from hardly walking & when she does walk it is with the help of a walker & she is bent over at the waist due to the scoliosis. I have had her to cleveland clinic & several other Dr's who treat scoliosis & no one will even consider surgery [ which she wants badly] as to the risk. She sets about 10 ft. from the tv so i believe a 40-46 inch will serve her nicely, i have watched/researched the samsung & am pretty well sold on them. Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours also.

I'll tell you one thing, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING ANYTHING BUT A SAMSUNG. Their TV's are far an above anything out there. And don't let price scare you. Figure a TV lasts about 10 years, and that's a short average. So even if you have to pay $400 more for a Samsung....which you won't...that means you'd only have to be paying $40 a year more, or less than $8 a week to get quality you aren't going to get with any other LED. And believe me, there's a BIG difference. Samsung is almost 3-d quality.
