According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the A's have been one of Lance Berkman's "most fervent" suitors.

Berkman has been telling reporters that he doesn't want to become a full-time designated hitter, but he's likely to chase the richest contract and the A's seem ready to pay up. Big Puma hit .248/.368/.413 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI in 404 at-bats this year between the Astros and Yankees. Serving as Oakland's designated hitter would allow him to stay healthier.

I can not believe the A's are going to spend some money for a change.

They offered Beltre a huge contract.

I think some of these better players are looking at the A's pitching staff and thinking they may be a contender in the West.

The only problem the A's have is the bad stadium and the lack of fan support.
