Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is standing by Carson Palmer as his quarterback for the 2011 season.
“No question in my mind that Carson Palmer is our quarterback,”
Lewis said on “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” “He really weathered quite a storm this year and took another step as a leader.”
Palmer completed 362 of 586 passes for 3,970 yards and 26 touchdowns, but his 20 interceptions marked a career low.
There may chances for Palmer in 2011 as the future of his top two receivers remains unclear.
Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco combined for 141 receptions, 1814 yards, and 13 touchdowns. However, Owens is a free agent and Ochocinco is scheduled to make six-million dollars in 2011 under his contract despite the down year by his standards.
“[Ochocinco] is under contract for the 2011 season,” Lewis said. “He’’s a member of this football team and at some point he’s going to address his ankle this offseason and move forward.”
