Big wow. I think he'll win the MVP in Boston w/50+ HR's.

What's not mentioned in the article (and video) is that the Padres GM and assistant GM are both former assistants to Theo Epstein. There's obviously a relationship there.

As long as the deal goes through, Gonzalez fantasy value just went up.

Wowzer. Nice signing. Gonzalez's power numbers should go up in a big way.

Assuming deal goes thru - Gonzo and Sox have to work out an extension - Sox apparently are only giving up prospects. Sox have been after this guy for a couple of years. Really does seem like a great pick up for them at a reasonable price.

Good. They would've been one of the big players going after Pujols next year if he doesn't get an extension from the Cards this season.

Casey Kelly is a big loss for Boston, he should do very well in the NL.

People are saying he is supposed to be a top-of-the-rotation starter. It still seems like the Padres got fleeced. What else is new.

Right now they only have Gonzalez locked up for one year, so it could happen

As much I hate to see them give up young players just to be able to negotiate early with a star, Gonzalez is probably earning about $15 million under his market value, so that's cool. Another piece of evidence showing how well Boston does in the draft

Pads should have gotten a little more.

Even though he was signed for one year, as someone mentioned, he was signed for about $15,000,000 below his market value. That has a lot of value.

They are getting a player to be named later which could be a significant prospect.
