New York Grocery Clerk Jumps On to Subway Tracks to Save Injured Passenger Only Not to Be Late For Work

San Jose, Costa Rica, Dec 7, 2010, Hollywoodsportsbook.com, a leading online entertainment gaming site since 1997, today announced that it has chosen brave, 36 year old New Yorker, Carlos Flores, who leaped onto subway tracks to save a man just so he would not be late for work.

Flores was on his way to work at Gristedes produce store where he worked for 15 years, when he heard a man yelling for help who had fallen from the platform at the E. 103rd St. station.

Without hesitating, the 5-foot-7 Flores jumped into the track bed and pulled 220-pound born again Thomas Grant to safety all in under 3 minutes which is exactly how much time he had till the train would have decapitated two more victims.

Robert Evans, Hollywood’s Director of Operations says “these ‘jump on the tracks to save someone’ stories keep happening lately but they never get old…especially if there is video. But Mr. Flores certainly did take a major gamble with his life by jumping on to the most dreaded rail system in the world, save a life and still make it to work on time.

But his heroic life saving gamble alone was not the reason he was chosen our “Gambler of the Week.”
Nope…We chose Mr. Flores more for his explanation as to why he took such a big gamble rather than the gamble itself.

Flores stated "I was thinking, if this guy gets hit by a train, I can't go to work. It's Sunday. I can't miss out. It's a time-and-a-half day…Christmas is coming.” What could possibly be better than that statement? Enough said. True hero gambler talk.

Evans goes on to say…. “Here’s a guy who gambled with his life simply because, if God forbid, the train kills the guy, Flores would probably have been late to work as the transit police come to investigate, shut the subway system down, interview witnesses, collect brain matter for DNA identification, and then wait for someone to come clean the gory mess which would have taken hours. Our hero was thinking ahead and wanted no part of that process and therefore literally leaped into action saving a life and more importantly those valuable time and a half hours.”

Carlos Flores (second left) shakes hands with his boss, Gristedes owner John Catsimatidis, as Rene Flores of Gristedes and Margo Catsimatidis look on.

For being chosen as our “Gambler of the Week,” Hollywood is awarding Mr. Flores with a $500 wagering account which we hope he can run up to thousands in order to pay for some Christmas presents for his son who now calls Dad “Superman” says Ms. Nicki Smith, Hollywood’s Public Relations manager.

Additionally Hollywood has a special promotion in honor of Mr. Flores. Sign up and make a deposit with them and they will give you an extra 20% cash bonus to use on their site using promo code GOW20.
