'for love of the game'. kevin costner as an aging superstar pitcher. all i remember is the unrealistic no-hitter at the end of the movie. don't know if the movie got good reviews, though.

The book is very good, though. It's a story that works better on paper than on film.

Any sports move about baseball, they all suck. Angels in the Outfield wasn't bad for a Disney movie, though.

avatar is probably as much a sports movie as love and basketball. i cant get into how much i hate the movie and how unrealistically stupid it is.

Nah baseball movies suck. Rudy was also garbage. Remember the Titans is the best sports movie hands down.

throw in might ducks 2 while we are at it. id put it a small step up from these 2 i mentioned. actually liked the first one, but couldnt get over how stupid it was having a hockey team playing an international event with chicks on the team, against a team from trinidad n tobago, and a game of hood hockey LOL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BIG TOURNAMENT. i know this was a kids movie, but my god how dumb. then emilio dumps the hot iceland blond for the frumpy tutor. give me a break disney.

rudy was pretty much 100% accurate. hard to hate on that. only thing that was embellished was dan devine not letting him suit up. titans wasnt bad, a little too much hollywood though, rudy was way more a realistic depiction.

Dude, "Rudy" was very close to pure embellishment, in the memorable parts at least. There was a news story just two or three weeks ago where somebody asked Joe Montana about the movie. His basic response was something like, "No, it didn't happen like that at all."

And I'll also say this: Anyone who doesn't love the original "Bad News Bears" is most likely a communist with poor personal hygiene who doesn't love puppies or his mother.

I can only think a few truly great sports movies

Rocky was definitely one of the better ones, but no way was it Best Picture level. I'll take When We Were Kings as many times better

Caddyshack and maybe one or two others were great. All other sports movies were average at best. And most of them were poor

montanas a bitter old man apparently. i believe quite a few of rudys teammates came out to defend him after montana made his comments. everything happened in that movie in real life, from his friend dying at the plant, getting dumped by that bitch when he went off to notre dame, him sleeping in a bed on campus for a time (was actually in the gym, not the football field though), him going to that junior college and getting rejected 3 straight times to notre dame, him leading the team on the field the final game, him getting the sack at the end, him getting carried off. only thing that was hollywood bs was him quitting and the players offering their spot so he could dress. devine had announced at practice that rudy was gonna dress for the game a few days prior. im sure the details are probably a little off, but the main plot is pretty accurate.

Would have to say the Blind Side, just because it was so sappy and sandra bullock won a friggin oscar for that performance that can be done by most competent actresses.

Plus, they were way off on Oher's portrayal. The guy was already decent at football and a confident, determined guy to boot. All the shy, introverted crap was just way too much Hollywood.
