CLEVELAND -- Indians Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller has been moved from a hospital to hospice care.

The 92-year-old Feller, who was recently admitted to the Cleveland Clinic with pneumonia, has been transferred to a hospice in the Cleveland area, Bob DiBiasio, the team's vice president of public relations confirmed Wednesday night.
Feller's health has been in decline in recent months. He was diagnosed with leukemia in August, and after fainting while undergoing chemotherapy, Feller had a pacemaker implanted.

Feller won 266 games in 18 seasons -- all with the Indians. An eight-time All-Star, Feller interrupted his baseball career to enlist in the Navy during World War II. Feller served three years in the military before returning to the major leagues.

Sad news, met him numerous times.

One of the all-time great, if not the greatest, IOWA native sports fiugres.

Also, one of the most underrated all-time greats to ever wear a MLB uniform.

I love this guy. Met him at a baseball card show a while back...just a great guy. And I always felt he is one of the truely great interviews of all time. Very, very knowledgeable about the game, especially pitching. Very outspoken. Still follows the game closely. They had him on an Indians TV broadcast a couple of times last year. Seemed like he was traveling an awful lot watching ballgames this past season. Looked great, seemed like he had a lot of energy, and was sharp as a tack. This is going to be tough to take. This guy made his MLB at 16, I believe. One of the best pitchers of all-time. A WWII veteran. An ambassoder for the game. What an amazing life...just incredible.

I just looked it up...I was wrong. he made his MLB debut at 17. Can you imagine pitching in the big leagues at 17 years old?!?!

One of the first baseball books someone gave me stated bob feller made $25 for every pich he through in 1948.

'one of the most underrated all-time greats to ever wear a MLB uniform.' Thats for sure!!!! 266 wins is not the half of it. Feller won 27 games in 1941 and 26 the year he returned fully in 1946. So he missed the prime of his career, a fairminded person might assume the 4 years he missed 42-45 he would have had 100 wins 25 per year. he did win 5 in 45 coming back very late in that year. 100 -5 +95 more wins which would have made his win total 361.

He & Williams lost more stats in the war than any other ballplayer!

Paper Reports Bob Feller Died, Except He Didn't
Posted by Vince Grzegorek on Thu, Dec 9, 2010 at 8:43 AM

The Lorain Morning Journal posted an article on their site last night reporting that Bob Feller had died.

He had not. Feller is still with us, though the end is probably near; the 92-year-old is reportedly in hospice after a serious bout with pneumonia and his ongoing battle against leukemia.

The LMJ posted this correction to their story shortly after:
