I have clinched a playoff spot. I am playing a team in my division this week, if they beat me, they will be the wildcard. I would fall to the #2 seed most likely. I would prefer this wildcard and new #1 to play each other in the first round as ,to me, are the 2 best teams.

Of course, if I win this week, I will probably knock out this potenial wildcard.

I know if I was in a situation where I needed a team to lose, I would hope the opponent would try to win.

But having clinched a playoff spot, I have a modicum of control.

My question, do anything to win?

me personally id play to win. my luck is if i did this and helped someone get into the playoffs by benching guys on my team, that would be the person who knocks me out of the playoffs down the line

Not against the rules but it is kind of bad sportsmanship... By doing that you are screwing over another guy that would have gotten into the playoffs instead. I wouldn't do it.

The 49ers did just this in 1989 and laid down against the Rams to eliminate the Giants from the playoffs.
