IF you are head coach of the Jets do you fire the special teams coach for the TRIP on the sidelines of the other player?

I said to my brother when it happened that I would have fired him immediately. That's totally uncalled for.

I saw the play and replay as has most, but one thing I don't understand. The Jets guy on the sideline showed no expression of pain after the trip. If he was stationary, and the Miami guy was running balls to the wall down the sideline with knee pads and thigh pads, even if there was a knee to knee direct contact, would not the Jets guy be hurting also because he was stationary and hit by a moving object. The Miami guy had to escorted off the field and the Jets guy just went about business as usual. Unless he has a very high treshold for pain, the physics don't add up. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction said that Newton guy way back when.

Thanks to Devoc's picture of the play, I still think the Jets guy would have winced in pain also, if nothing else, his torso would have moved up and to the right, up and to the right, up and to the right proving once and for all there was more than one Miami Dolphins Special Teams Olayer located on the grassy sidleine.

He moves his leg out as far as he can. This video is the best I've seen so far and shows he did it on purpose.

the ass coach barely moved but he braced for it with the position of his legs he was based and ready for impact.

here is how the conversation went afterwards:

Rex Ryan: you tripped that dolphin, you should be fired!
ass coach: but that is exactly what you told me to do...isn't it?
Rex Ryan: good point....well, I'm gonna have to say bad things about you and fine you. I'll give you a bonus this year to cover the fine and next time you will have to stand in the middle and let coach #2 deliver the blow. can you remember that?
ass coach: Ok, thanks.
Rex Ryan: no problem, by the way, nice fucking charlie horse! give one of them to sanchez when he throws his next pick

Suspended Jets assistant coach Sal Alosi resigns

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AlADHCzVu5j7D6qt5A1gnbM5nYcB?slug=ap-jets-alosiresigns

---

NEW YORK (AP)—Sal Alosi decided it was time to move on.

The embattled New York Jets strength and conditioning coach resigned Monday, less than two months after he was caught tripping an opposing player during a punt return and suspended by the team.

Alosi was initially docked without pay for the rest of the season and fined $25,000 by the team for sticking out his knee to trip Miami’s Nolan Carroll(notes) during a game at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Dec. 12. He was suspended indefinitely by the team a few days later after acknowledging he ordered players to form a wall along the sideline.

“After the events that have transpired, I feel it’s best for my family and me to look for a fresh start,” Alosi said in a statement issued by the team.

During a news conference the day after the incident, Alosi fought back tears as he called his actions—tripping Carroll—“inexcusable and irresponsible.” He also said no one was instructed to stay up on the sideline to prevent Dolphins players from running out of bounds on kicks. Miami’s Reshad Jones(notes) was penalized for doing that earlier in the game.

It wasn’t until two days later that Alosi was suspended indefinitely after he acknowledged telling the players to form the wall—information he didn’t initially volunteer.

General manager Mike Tannenbaum said during a conference call last Friday that the team had not yet made a decision on Alosi’s future.

“After speaking with Sal, he decided that it is best for him to tender his resignation at this time,” Tannenbaum said.

Alosi was first with the Jets from 2001-05, then worked for the Atlanta Falcons for one season before he was hired by then-New York coach Eric Mangini in 2007 to be the head strength and conditioning coach. A former linebacker at Hofstra, Alosi earned an award for sportsmanship and fair play both on and off the field during his college career.

as he is running down the sideline. it's either always acceptable or never acceptable.
